Could anyone kindly point me to a link for KML files from Geneva to Le Puy?

Thanks!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Oh, I've got it. It's GR65 or Via Gebenensis. Here you can find KML etc. files:

Nice find K1! What step by step process do you follow to retreive the KML files? I tried following the webpage's suggestion of downloading GeoJSon file but all I get when keyed on the link is a bunch of dead code. Could the code be dead because the page is "no longer maintained?"

Huh, that's something I can't help you with. I have never downloaded GPS tracks as such because I just look at them on-line to check in case I'm in doubt. I mean that I don't use them as classic GPS navigation.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

I couldn't find any .kml files on that web site. What you might be seeing is the GEOJson (.geojson) files, which will display as a text stream of the coordinates in a readable format. If you download the file, rather than opening it in a browser, you can then use a GPS format translator (like https://mygeodata.cloud/converter/) to create a track in a new format that suits you. I have done this to translate one of the GEOJSon files, imported it into the Garmin Basemap application, and compared it to the OSM mapping of the area. It looks reasonable - there were 116 points for the 15 km leg, and it appeared to pretty closely correlate with the map.

Thanks!

Okay, so to open the file, I need an App to open the KMZ file to access the KML file "Geneva to Le Puy". Any suggestions on what free App is out there to do this?

Thanks Again!
Google Earth. Garmin's Basecamp application opens kmz files as well.

Maps.me works with kml files and works very good for me. It's free, and once downloaded, it works all off line. I walked with maps.me and these tracks all the way from Amsterdam to SdC.
Soon I will post here an english manual how to put maps.me and these tracks on your phone. If you know some Dutch, or if google translate works very well : https://www.santiago.nl/gebruik-met-smartphone

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Okay, I downloaded GoogleEarth onto my desktop. I keyed in the KMZ file courtesy @Thomas1962 and by doing so, I opened all the files into GoogleEarth. But my goal is to access individual KML files so that I can upload them onto my GoogleMaps (ie Your Places...Maps). What do I need to do get access to those individual KML files so I can save them to my desktop?

I feel like a junky! Ever since I was able to see the Camino de Levante on my smartphone Google Maps, it was like holy crap! I don't ever have to worry about getting loss again, unless of course the KML files are wrong...which happened to me outside Avila.

Is there a special reason why you want to have the individual KML files? The files are quit small, so for a phone it is no problem to have al the tracks in one. Once walking you will zoom to where you are. The other tracks didn't bother me, and I had the freedom to change to a different route, if I wanted to.

But anyway, it is possible in Google earth to take out the individual track.
- open the French KMZ file in GE and go to the particular track you want
- make a right click right on that track
- now you see all the possibilities you can do with that track like change colors etc. You can also copy that particular track and page it to a diferent kml file.

Let me know if it doesn't work.

And indeed, I recognize that '' holy crap' moment very well! o_O Don't use google maps any more, it needs to be online all the time. Maps.me or Viewranger do work offline.

Just to give some background, I just walked the Camino de Levante. I used Google Maps (with customized maps) to navigate. As you probably know, Google Maps allows you to create your own maps. The way this works is I locate the KML file somewhere on the internet. Then I download the KML file onto my computer. From there, I go into Google Maps--Your Places--Maps--Create Map. I hit Create Map and it asks me to download KML file into it from my computer. I download KML file from my computer and I have now created my own Google Map with the trail located on it! So when I ask for a KML file, I am asking for a file that I can download onto my computer and then upload it into Google Maps.

I realize I may be beating a dead horse but...
When I go to the page @Dogfitz posted with caminos in kml files, I had no problem downloading with one click the entire LePuy to SJPP route into Google Maps. Unfortuntaly the Geneva to LePuy route isnt part of this library. Any suggestions where to find the same file format for the Geneva route? @dogfitz posted source that worked for me: 9

Update:
I did manage to open up the .kmz file of all French routes (posted above) into my Map.me app. So I should be covered. Thanks

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
You're good to go then :D

This internet/computer stuff is an odd experience for me. So much of it is just pecking around and stumbling on things. While messing around on my desk top just now and looking at all the downloads I unwittingly have done, I discovered a .KMZ file "Geneva to LePuy route"! The unfortunate thing is I have no idea how it got there. Anyways, I uploaded it easily into Google Maps. So I am double covered now!

Strange things happens when you deal with Camino :D

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
