Hi,
Two questions for anyone with experience on the Camino Frances..
I am flying into Biarritz at 9:05pm on Aug 30. Can anyone opine on a nice place to stay and the fastest way to get to SJPDP? I know 'fast' and 'camino' aren't simpatico but i have a reservation in Orisson on the 31st, so i need to get there on time. Thanks!

Hi Jennie, you will need to catch the train to SJPP leaving Bayonne at 7:40am, so it would probably be best to go straight to Bayonne after landing. Biarritz airport is only 4km from Bayonne; the bus journey takes 15 mins and there are buses until all hours: https://tim.chronoplus.eu/tim/data/pdf/220_FH_L14_Ete-2017.pdf

Not sure about accommodation in Bayonne; you could probably find something on booking.com - just make sure they accept late arrivals as many hotels close their reception desks early in this part of the world!

In Bayonne the Hotel Monte Carlo is good inexpensive choice located opposite the rr station. Nice cafe and resto also. Here is their web .

Buen camino!

SNCF TER Aquitaine operates train #62 from Gare Bayonne to SJPdP. Most days have 4 trains.

Hi, JennieO :)

It's a Camino and you don't have to get anywhere "on time". If you booked Orisson for 31st you arrange overnight stay (you are landing in the evening, right) in Bayonne and take the first morning train to SJPdP. Check in the Pilgrim Office there, take your time for a nice and slow breakfast, take few long and deep breaths and start walking to Orisson when you are ready. Not that far away and they will have a place for you no doubt. Stop worrying as all will be well!

Buen Camino!
