Are you asking about guide books? A quick google suggests that these are travel agencies.

For more information here, you could enter "Macs Adventure" in the search box at the upper right of the forum screen, and you'll find several threads on them.

I have used Macs Adventure a couple of times in the past for self-guided trips. I never had any issues with them, and they delivered what they said they would.

If you, or anyone, are considering a tour company, the advice that I always give is to do your research, comparative shop, and understand what they do and don't provide for the money they charge. After doing your research, if you feel you are getting value for your money, then it is all good.

BTW - I have no connection to any tour company.

Hey Terence!

Just fyi, I have walked Camino Frances twice and just found places to stay along the way. I never booked ahead, but just walked in! That only works during low season (late September would qualify there, I think).

For some walks, such as the West Highland Way in Scotland, it is much more helpful to use a group like Mac Adventures as the places along the W. H. Way book out--the beds are much more limited.

What you feel inclined to do will be fine, and let me know what you decide!

Best wishes--
