The comments on another thread about day packs prompted me to tell you about my ultralight day pack. A friend bought it for me in England. It weighs 90g, folds out into a substantial pack with adjustable straps, a zip closure, a small outside pocket, and the pouch (which is now inside the bag) doubles as safe storage for your iPod. There is even a little port hole to thread the cord through from the pouch. Mine was made by ONYA BAGS - http://www.onyabags.co.uk - and cost £12.24

They also sell Weigh bags - a small pouch with 5 strong Tulle bags (each can easily carry 2 kilos)
*They are incredibly lightweight ,so they don't weigh anything on the scales and are see-through.
Sold for buying produce they can also be used as laundry bags or to keep your clothing neatly packed inside your back pack.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Hi Sil,

I took a very similiar bag last time too. Although the website is English on the photo you have shown - look carefully at the little flag by the "a" of Onya - It looks to me very like an Australian one (distinguished from the NZ one by the 7 pointed "commowealth" star to the left of the Southern Cross). I would think that "onya (back)" is Australian for a combination of:- good on you, & on your back! Just a little trivia to add to your valuable post. Regards, Janet

New Zealand flag also differs in that the stars have red interiors. The onya website tells us that they are not only Australian, but Western Australian, so even better !!! I bought an "onyaback" at Salamanca Markets in Hobart, with my Camino next Sept in mind, but now I see that they are from my home state! It is well made & light & looks very useful to me.
Cheers,
Lisa.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Onya Lisa! I bought my little "vegetable weighing" bags (in lieu of a plastic bag) at the market in Alice Springs, and the other bag at Dymocks here in Adelaide and a firend bought hers in Dymocks in Melbourne - they are obviously Australia wide!! Cheers, Janet

You can get those at just about every Market where I live (North NSW, Australia), aren't they great? I was planning on taking one myself - light, small and yet they still fit a significant amount of stuff in them.

Why not use a waterproof stuff bag, for example:

You can then use it to keep stuff together and dry in your rucksack, carry it around in the evening or on a rest day, and put stuff in it to send in the aircraft hold,

I use one of those, but its not a hands-free shopping bag.

Although this is an old thread it is good to see it revived.
These little bags are wonderful and very long lasting. I have had mine now for 8 years and have just bought a new one as the original is showing signs of wear. I have used regularly at home, not just on Camino, for shopping etc. Just be careful to wrap sharp items/corners so they don't poke you, or the bag.

They can also be bought on Amazon or other retailers if you don't use Rei.
Amazon .co.uk or .com .
