Middle of the night taxi from Finisterre or Muxia to Santiago airport?

Hi, everyone.

My flight home from Santiago de Compostela is scheduled to leave at 6 a.m. If I wanted to finish up my pilgrimage in Muxia or Finisterre, would it be possible to arrange a middle-of-the-night taxi ride from one of those locales to the Santiago airport?

Thanks very much,

LorneB

I don't know about Finisterre or Muxia, but I did meet pilgrims who arranged taxis in Santiago beforehand for that 6:00 am flight. I think it was over 20 euros cost though.
I took that 6:00 Ryan Air flight from Santiago to Madrid once. I got the last public bus for the night to the airport, about 11:00 pm I think and 3 euros cost. I then just found a row of chairs to sleep on until the 4:00 am check in for the flight. I was quite surprised the amount of fellow pilgrims who had the same idea. A lot of backpacks and people scattered about napping on chairs, the floor etc. lol

I have not done it myself but I can't see why not.... Ask a taxi company beforehand and ask for an estimated cost.
Maybe the Galician tourist office in Santiago can advise you, too. I think it still is in Rua do Vilar?
Good luck.

Hi Lorne,

I have a card from a taxi I used last year ...
M. Vieites - Tel. 608583222
He was parked at the taxi rank by the harbour, where all the restaurants are.
I was suffering with blistered feet when I got to Finisterre & he taxied me out to the lighthouse. I told him I really wanted to walk to Muxia the next day, as I had made reservation there, but also wanted to finish up there, so he advised me to take a lift to Lires & walk from there. He picked me up from my Albergue early the next morning, & even did a stop-off at a beautiful beach on the route, which I had read about, before he dropped me at a cafe in Lires to get breakfast, before I headed on my way to Muxia. I really appreciated his kindness. I can't remember the price but I do know it was reasonable. As they say ... 'the Camino provides'. If you meet him, give an Irish 'hello' from me. Buen Camino!

I had to arrange a 4:30am taxi from Santiago to the airport for my 6am Ryan air flight back to Madrid. I never would have tried doing that from as far away as Finesterre or Muxia, full of switchbacks and a 1.5 hour drive. If it's even possible, I'm sure it would cost a small fortune. I wouldn't chance it.

Thanks for the input, everyone.

@Camino Chris , I think I'm inclined towards your point of view. I'd probably be willing to take on the expense, but I think I'd be too anxious about something going wrong. Don't need that kind of stress to close out a Camino. I'll let my return to the day-to-day provide the stress instead :)

@FeatherG Sorry I won't be able to offer the Irish hello to the guy you were mentioning. Maybe you'll just have to return and do it yourself :)

The taxi was 21 euros from Santiago to the airport in 2016.

Hi Lorne,

sounds like you may have already made up your mind but just in case... A daytime cab from Muxia to Santiago in 2013 was €50 so I'm guessing it's a fair bit more now. It's a good fare though so as long as you pre-arranged I imagine you could find someone to do it.

Or you could pick up a day on the way and sleep in Santiago the night before your flight.

My husband and I would like to spend a night in Muxia after walking to Santiago but don’t have time to walk there. Rome to Rio says there’s busses twice daily, but if you go to the Monbus website...
