Hi. Starting Madrid route to Leon followed by Salvador early June with friends. Anyone else likely to be around?
No, but I am curious about both those routes and will look forward to hearing about your observations Hopefully you will be posting comments as you go along. Buen Camino, Gitti!

I am setting off beginning of June also, have done several Caminos including VDLP and CDF etc.
Due to work commitments I can only spare time up to Sahagun then return am afraid :(

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

@gittiharre when are you starting? I have changed my plans and will be starting next Tuesday June 5th. Only booked my flight today so need to organize myself! I hope to continue on to Leon and the Salvador depending on time left.

It would be nice to see a few people along the way. Let me know!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I have a Madrid to Sahagún mapbook I picked up from the office in Madrid, it’s in Spanish though. Cost me ten euros. I ended Madrid Camino at Colmenar Viejo, long story....
I am now in Málaga enjoying the beach.

Hmm that was a short Camino. It seems that you are ok as enjoying the beach:cool:
That mapbook sounds good. I am going to wing it using the info from the Gronze website.

A selection of Camino Jewellery
Let me tell you it was really frustrating when I was trying to get out of Madrid I couldn’t find any markings that took me on a Camino at all so I got on a train to tres cantos and when I got there the municipal was totally close down, tres cantos Hostal booked solid, Avis Hostal never picked up their phone, the holiday inn was 85 euros for the night.... so I took a bus to Colemenar viejo, still could not locate any trail markers!! So..... booked a room at Gran Hostal, and thank God!! It downpoured for 2 days!!! Not to mention thunder that made me shake in my boots!!!

Doesn't sound pleasant and the rain doesn't help!

It was my understanding that the Camino de Madrid is well marked starting at the Plaza de Castilla. I have been forewarned to call the ayuntamiento de Tres Cantos a day before to be sure, I haven't made a reservation anywhere else so I certainly hope that I can sleep there. I do have an option to sleep at a hospitalera friend's house in Madrid if I do get into trouble. Apparently there is a problem sleeping there on the weekend but since I will be there on Tuesday night I will keep my fingers crossed.

So it really doesn’t start in Madrid??? I was sooo confused.... and with no one with any answers, it was very frustrating... it does not help that I do not speak any Spanish!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

I didn't say that, I just said that the arrows start at the Plaza de Castilla in Madrid but some start at the Iglesia de Santiago y San Juan Bautista as they get a stamp and/or credential there.

I will be wandering around out there, too, in June. Starting from Moratinos (ojala!) Monday morning, heading west... will decide in Leon whether we continue on the CF or north on Salvador, then to the Primitivo.
Traveling with my 17 y-o nephew. Pray for us!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

We are setting off on Sun 3rd from between Fuencarral and Tres Cantos and going as far as Colmenar Viejo. If you are a fast walker you will probably catch up with us along the way!

Who knows, we may just see each other! I hope to reach Segovia on Friday June 8th or if I stop in Cercedilla on the 9th. I have a bright turquoise coloured backpack and the same colour shoes (not planned).

Ok. We are 2 women, 1 round and short ( me) the other thin and tall. We plan to be on Segovia a day before you...
