Best pilgrim hostel in SdeC and safe street parking?

We arrive in SdeC tomorrow Wednesday and start for Finisterre on Thursday morning.
Q1) what’s the best pilgrim hostel to stay in Santiago on Wednesday night please?
Q2) where can we safely leave our car on street for the 6 days we have allowed for walking?
We have driven to Santiago.

I think the car parking question needs a Santiago local to answer. When we finished walking the Norte we hired a car to do some sightseeing round Galicia, but we picked it up from the airport and never took it into Santiago itself.

I hate to break this to you but the question for you will be "where can we find ANY bed?" and not "which is the best hostel?". Tommorrow is Saint James Day and the city is already packed. I would book asap. Buen Camino, SY

I would not leave my vehicle on any street in Spain as the country is notorious for car break-ins particularly foreign registered cars. Find a secure car park and pay.

On Wednesday it would be The Last Stamp, on Thursday Roots & Boots etc.
Just joking of course
But maybe you can park your car at Casa Ivar. If it is virtual. Joking again, sorry.

Don't know about parking because usually I only park my boots somewhere but for the albergue it depends what you really want/need. Already mentioned Roots & Boots is almost on the way from cathedral to Fisterra/Muxia (and close to House Egeria: http://egeria.house/contact/ hosted by our @SYates ), maybe 20mts off the route to the left.

I would probably leave the car at the Airport parking and bus into town. Finding accomodation will be more difficult, as it is St. James Day and the city is crowded. So I do not think that there will be much to choose. "The Last Stamp" is a nice albergue in the centre and so is "Azabache" and "Km.0". Close to the Cathedral is the Pension "Barbantes Libredón", also a nice place, and "San Martin Pinario" where many of my friends prefer to stay. A bit off the route, but still in walking distance and quite ok is "Seminario Menor". So try your luck.

...as for car break-ins, the big cities with lots of tourist traffic have their share of crimes of that kind, but I have lived and driven and parked for many years all over Spain, (even in the cities!) and no one has ever broken into my car.
Maybe because my car is a dusty old Kangoo, with Spanish plates?

My favorite Albergue in Santiago is Roots and Boots. The family owners are wonderful and helpful (now friends too). Best is it has a great kitchen to cook in and sells very cheap good meals. My home from home.
