Lightweight Wrap Skirt !

THIS is one of my most fabulous finds! A lightweight wrap skirt, quick dry, modest length, velcro adjustable waist, key pocket.... I wear legging capri's on my treks and have always thought them too tight ( obviously) for going into churches/cathedrals and looked for years for a simple wrap skirt to put on over the capri for a bit more modesty ( also to wear out at night, after showering, during night to cover up going to restroom, etc.... ) The fit is fabulous, very comfortable, slight kick pleat in the back so not too clingy on bum... weighs 6 oz in my size. I like the thought of throwing this on after showering without having to get into the next day's clothes. It comes in a few lengths, this one the more modest. Got it at Amazon ( have already worn it to work...completelty appropriate ). It is also marketed as a bathing suit cover up...lol Just thought I'd share in case others were hunting down something similar. The Brand Name is RipSkirt, comes in dozens of colors.

Looks fabulous. A bit too short at my age... but I definitely second lightweight wrap around skirt, for those multi-purposes you mention. I got a silk, mid-knee Indian one, much lighter than a sarong - shower, after walk time in albergue or even around town, sleeping... no pockets though, and definitely not suitable for work. Yours is a great find.

I looked this skirt up on Amazon. They make both a short, and a longer version that comes just above the knee. I think the long one is suitable for all ages!

Great idea! It would give a more modern, updated look to the Macabi skirt, which is loved by quite a few gals.

I think if someone wanted even more length, it would be really easy to simply sew an extension out of lace or a coordinating fabric. Having said that, the skirt at $40 USD for me was perfect. I don’t think age matters. I’m a young looking 52 and I wear a Purple Rain hiking skirt that’s just above my knees. Actually, all my dresses and skirts at knee length. Long skirts are unattractive on my 5’3 frame glad you found a skirt you like. I love hiking in a skirt.

I'm not suggesting a longer skirt because of age. My shorts are well above my knees. I just like longer wrap skirts. Depending on the fabric, this might be multi-purpose on the camino, too. Looking forward to seeing how they look.

Fabulous idea! I also like leggings and I wear a long tunic over them for modesty especially when peeing behind a tree in the woods.

I just looked at it, looks great! Can you share what size you got, or how the sizes are? Thanks!

I'd say they run true to size. I wear a 12 and got the L which says 12-14, in the length #2 which is the longer one. They have velcro on both sides of the waist so they are somewhat adjustable for comfort. I recently washed it by hand, wrung it out and placed on a line to dry. Was dried in no time! Looking forward to bringing it on my Sept Camino.

Both of my daughters are highly intelligent and well educate (No2 narrowly missed out on a 1st in Archaeology) but will insist on using textspeak instead of English.
No 1, for example, frequently sends messages address to "Dude" when I assume she meant to say "Dad".
I blame their mother.

I've been using that kind of skirt for years (so many brand names do the job). For jogging, hiking and everyday activities. I prefer them to shorts, and I'll walk the camino in one of them. I don't even need a capri underneath for the ones I have have an 'integrated underwear' (never been easier to go pee in the wild with those). Capri only if cold.

I knew it was coming out, but last conversation with company they said would only be avail to ship mid Sept ... are they avail now ? I’m leaving in 8 days ! Lol. I love the fit and fabric of the one I have ... may buy the longer one for future walks

Am I missing something? How big is the interior pocket? I can't see any mention of other pockets on the website. If I can;t put money,cards, passport, iphone in my pockets its not suitable for travel and I'll stick with my Macabi. Really annoys me too that they rip off international postage - $35 postage is nearly the cost of the skirt! And if its as light as they say it is it the shipping would be pretty low .

Even though above the knee is modest enough, out of kindness to others some of us are better off with better coverage.

I agree...it fills the need to have something a tad more polished, without big bulky pockets and after walking. It's a 'travel skirt' not a hiking skirt. ( OP states it as such ...let's not get the macabi skirt bandwagon rolling...apples to oranges )

Actually, I'm from the same upbringing and as I'm short, the skirt covers my knees. Additionally I always cover shoulders with a wrap if I have a sleeveless blouse on. It is respectful no matter what country, church, religion affiliation or requirements posted at the door. Even in the little village churches in the evening, the locals are clean and respectfully dressed. I loved seeing the old women with their dresses and beads file in.
In Italy last May/June there were wraps being sold at the doors and people refusing to cover were not allowed in. They turned away a large group of teen girls on tour who all had short shorts on with sleeveless tops/bare shoulders. Their tour guide should have known better.

These places aren't museums, they are holy places.

THIS SKIRT WAS PERFECT!!! I wore this near every night after showering on the Camino Portuguese and it was great! It was just right for evenings, great as coverup for bathroom breaks at night in albergues, adjustable waist perfect when the old body starts morphing from dropped pounds. Lots of compliments too!

I just saw a basket of wraps at the door of the church in Rocomadour, France this past June so you're not too old!

And yet Spanish teenage girls seem to compete to see who can get away with the shortest cutoffs/denim skirts not only in school but in the cathedral as well.

I've just returned from walking the Portuguese Camino. We could not help but notice ( and many pilgrims from other countries commented on ) the short short short styles that must be the style now in Germany. Those German girls and even older women had extremely short shorts on, both walking and for leisure at night. It must be what is available and acceptable for them in their country...needless to say, many should have maybe considered that the walk is indeed a pilgrimage requiring a bit more respect.
