Hi Pilgrims

I friend and I are thinking of starting the Camino Mozarabe from Malaga around August 20, 2018. Too hot?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
There is a heat wave. So, stay hydrated and hydrated, and more hydrated.

My first camino I started in Roncesvalles in August with black hair. I finished in September in Santiago with platinum blonde hairline.

Buen camino.

Am hoping the first few days at least might be through forested hills but will take your advice. Long range forecasts are predicting mid 20s. We live in hope!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I've just come back from the Camino Frances and it was warm, very warm. The best way to beat the heat is to get up early and start walking by 6am, it's a beautifully peacful time to walk and it's nice and cool. Buen Camino.

I'm considering a summer start...do you remember any actual temps?
Thanks

The first week was high 20's, which was fine to walk in, but then a heat wave hit and it rose to mid to high 30's, which was too warm to walk in the afternoon. A heatwave hit most of Europe this year, making it warmer than normal. It seems to have dropped down to high 20's again.

Rick:

I do not know if you have started your walk yet but the Mozarabe from Almeria is more like Arizona. Much more like a desert area followed by about 200 miles of hills with Olive trees until you reach Cordoba where the vegetation begins to change.

There is plenty of accommodation and the Association is very helpful.

Ultreya,
Joe

That route from Malaga would be horribly hot in the summer, in my opinion.
Besides that, no places to fill up water.
I realize it's past August... wondering how you did.

Perhaps it’s me but...if you need to ask if it’s going to be hot in southern Spain in August, maybe he shouldn’t be going!

Thanks guys. After all your sage advice (particularly you, expert George.g) we decided to walk the GR 141 around Ronda. Hot, but beautiful rivers to swim and cool off in every day the entire way.

Hello fellow pilgrims. I will start walking the Camino Mozárabe from Almería on 5th April 2024 and just wonder whether there is anybody else there around that date with the same objective?
