Gonna Do Camino Norte April 2019
Hello fellow Pellegrinos...

I walked early April the CF and have to be honest....
I didn't take fully good care of my lovely feet, what resulted in troubles..
In April 2019 I will walk the Camino Norte and hope to be smarter this time.
Does someone know , or have good experience with a (Camino) pedicure treatment in Santander or Gijon.

I think that it will be more important to develop a daily foot care routine to keep your feet in shape. There are many creams and ointments that you can apply at night. I used this very lightweight artificial pumice bar when I showered to keep my feet from getting too "crusty". https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002KU6GG/?tag=casaivar02-20

Ditto what Tercile said. And from someone who should have known better, a pedicure right before walking can seriously lead to blisters!! Those callouses are there for a reason. I had too much removed (it happened in the blink of an eye at the salon!!) and ended up with blisters on the del Norte in 2014. Keep you toenails trimmed to the correct length for YOUR toes and keep the callouses tidy, but in place. Using something like Aquaphor or Vaseline or some foot balm daily will also help keep your feet in shape. Painted nails can also obscure bruising or damage to the nail bed...so also not the best of ideas. At least not at the start. I do admit to buying some polish in Astorga in 2011. Katie and I had just this urge to feel girly, so we shared a bottle of lovely purple sparkly nail polish! It was good for a laugh. By that point I knew exactly how my feet/toes were fairing in my shoes and wasn't concerned about loosing toenails. Buen Camino!!

Thanks for your insights...
I know the importants of creaming and the other stuff, That wasn't my problem.
My problem is that I've got a dubble nail on the pinky toe left food that needs special care.
I hoped last camino that I would make it without special treatment till Santiago, but he thougt otherwise.
So I am still looking for a specialist somewhere in the middle of the camino Norte...

You can actually get blisters under calluses, and they are much worse.

SorryY I haven’t been on the Norte yet so I cant give you a specific recommendation. I also was thinking of walking it April 2019. Have you considered getting that toe looked at by a podiatrist before you go? ....would lamb’s wool/moleskin help to protect it better? Wish you luck is finding some relief

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

I have no idea but I would ask either the hospitalero/a - if you are in an albergue - or the hotel receptionist - if you stay in a hotel.
They’ll know.
Best of luck and buen camino :)

Ohhh yes!! :) My feet well remember those kinda blisters!! The best part was, as they were being treated by the hospitalera in Mansilla de las Mulas. She commented that I didn't have a blister on my foot. The room, filled with friends waiting for their feet to be treated got really quiet!! They were looking at the bottoms of my feet and wondering.... She continued, "No blister here. You have a whole family!!" Sad but very true!! I'm posting the pics. Only pilgrims would understand keeping walking with these feet! They healed....and then oh lord did they peel. For ages it seemed!! So take good and tender care of your pedes!! :)

The pics are from 2011. Camino Frances. Only ever get tiny ones now. Just how my feet are. But these are pics of why you listen to your feet. If they get warm and sweaty...STOP!! Dry them off. Change your socks. Ten minutes treatment time can save a lotta pain!
