It's Not About The Shoe...

New pilgrims planning their trek resort to asking the age old question of what to wear for footwear. Hiking boots? Runners? Sandals? Waterproof? etc...

Bottom line is what your body & feet will be comfortable in ON THE MANY TERRAINS. While a good fit, a size up is near always recommended, everything else is basically opinion based on one's own personal foot makeup. Some are able to use light runners on cobblestones for miles while others are crippled by the stones after 1K.

I've made several YouTube videos of my treks, all avail on my channel. This one in particular was put together to show some of the different types of terrain you will encounter on the CF...It doesn't show the 14 days of rain I experienced in 2014 ( the Ahnu low cuts in this video were waterproof, and once wet, never seemed to dry completely) ( all other caminos walked non-waterproof )

I encourage those looking for their footwear to watch a few videos, mine or others, and pay attention to what you see for walking surfaces. ( I do have the Camino Portuguese video posted as well to show a glimpse of the cobblestone, etc... )

Good luck in your search I'm confident you'll choose the right shoe for you :)

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
Looking forward to watching your videos, Sophie! You can add them to your list of things you do to keep busy on the other thread! ;)

LOL! I do presentations for all kinds of groups...from brothers at local monasteries, to grade school/high school kids, to old church ladies ( who walk vicariously thru me...lol )

I posted this quick little video because I made it especially to show different kinds of terrains...I hope someone finds it useful in making their personal shoe decision :)
