I’m one day from León. Been following the snow fall as much I can on Spanish weather stations.
Anyone know first hand how the snow & weather is in & around the O Ceibrio area? From my view it’s beautiful !! Snow top mountains surround me!

Been Camino to all!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Curious as well. Will walk up in the morning. Did see pilgrims interviewed on local news a day ago who were walking up on road, not the Camino. Wonder how it is now as today was sunny and well above freezing.

Download elTiempo.es + for your smartphone. It is the official app from the Spanish Government Weather Service (AEMET). They have automated, solar-powered, remote reporting stations in just about every named place in Spain. Even some of the small, farming hamlets along the Caminos are included.

I have found their reporting of current conditions to be the best in Spain.

They also have several hundred thousand other worldwide sites available on search.

This app is FREE.

Hope this helps.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!

We are heading to O’C tomorrow as well. In Ambasmental tonight. The woman serving at the bar mentioned that there was snow in O’C and that the hotels might be full as Spaniards like to go and see the snow there.

We took the horses via Victor a marvalous ride even for beginners. It is very slushy under foot and Very stoney on the steep parts if you walk so take care or take the road . There are many trees down covering the track also.

Contact victor in the morning and when you get to Vega de Valcarce. His ph number is posted on the side of the road or if you want it let me know and I will find it for you .
It’s very cold up here an little heating in hostel .brrr.
Have fun

The wind is building up also and blowing hard against the window pane

The ice had built up to about 1/2" on the windows. In the middle of the night the wind shook the windows hard enough to break the ice. It shattered and fell to the floor and on the bed with a terrific noise
We first thought the window had broken.
The best part of any Camino is the adventure....

Looked bad in a post on FB.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I have”enjoyed” 4 seasons of weather on my climbs to O’Cebreiro and believe the climb in the rainstorm was harder than the one in the snow. Never easy, but the sound dampening snow created a magical quiet ‘twilight zone’entrance into the village. I hope you experienced the same.

Fabulous walk into O’C - little drizzle, mist, and bits of sunshine. Loved the climb :)

Yesterday I walked from Trabadelo through O Cebreiro to Linares.
There was light drizzle and cloud obscured what otherwise would have been stunning views, and some snow lying on the ground.
As has already been said, O Cebreiro is popular with tourists and there's not a lot of accommodation there. But there is an albergue and another private one in Linares, 3km downhill. 2.5km past that there's another in Hospital da Condesa.
Incidentally, part of the trail soon after Alto de San Roque was blocked by wind-driven snow this morning and I walked on the road for a while. I wouldn't say it was impassable but at my age I don't want to be slipping or falling.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-

You can find a live webcam of the top of the trail portion by searching for camino livecams, and see the snow on the trail there.

It mightn't be a bad idea to look for a sports shop and buy a pair of gaiters there, if you haven't already got some.
I walked for 4 hours this morning in persistent heavy rain from Portomarin. My long raincoat was effective but the trouble is it drops all the rain it shields you from onto your trouser bottoms. You get wet from the feet up.
