Is it possible to rent a scooter to do the Camino?

Since I have walked the Frances and will have walked the Portuguese this fall, I am curious about the ability to rent a scooter to do the Frances again. I would like to go back and take a little faster journey and yet still smell the smells and take it more slowly.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
akk! Please stay off the trails. (I'm sure that is your intention) I saw that dirtbikers were tearing up the trail from LePuy to SJPP, taking advantage of well marked but poorly protected trails in France. Mostly foreigners from places where they couldn't get way with that.

This may become a gray area in the future. Some of the electric assist mountain bikes are pretty efficient, and hard to tell from a pedal-only bike. I would banish those from the trails as well, but how does one enforce it??

No question that my intention would be to stay off the trail--I too walked in enough ruts and places where bikes had worn narrow paths for water erosion that I would never take a scooter on them! I simply would like to meander nearby and revisit many of the towns without the rush, rush of a car. I have a scooter and they are small enough to have a good ride and enjoy the countryside roads putt putting along.

Nice to know I'm not the only one who has thought of doing it on a scooter (preferably my 1980 P200). I also thought doing it on a moped of some sort, like my 1985 Tomos, would also be fun. It would go slow enough to stop and enjoy things, but still be able to do it in a reasonable amount of time. I like the challenge of doing it on something vintage.....let me know if you ever do it!

Another thought is to buy a scooter in Europe, ride it on the Camino, then sell it after riding it. Might be easier than renting or shipping a bike over (I know you didn't mention shipping, but it's always a thought). I saw plenty of scooters on my walk last year. In fact, I took a lot of pictures of scooters when walking last year.

Hi - I've been waiting to book 2 June from Santiago dC to Madrid - finally the tickets are out! Funnily enough the luxury seats were cheaper than economy seats, so I took one.
