Starting from Oviedo ,on the 11/12th April, countdown is on, flights booked , do I need waterproof trousers, ?
Then walking onto Finisterre or / and Muxia, so will definitely meet some of you from Melide.

Thanks Joe, I will need to be carrying a heavier pack than in the summer then.
Will I need a sleeping bag ? Guess hat and gloves too.

Hansel:

I would not walk a Camino without a sleeping bag either. I walked this route in 2013. I had light snow, rain, mud and plenty of sunshine. That said, my pack is only about 8kg. I wear an Under Armor Backlava on cold days and good lightweight rain gear blocks the wind. I do keep gloves also.

That said, you could have perfect weather.

Hi Hansel . I walked it last year April-may am walking this year with my daughter starting the 9th April.
Take some light water proofs and use a sleeping bag.. This is what happens, it is a physical walk if it is raining or sunny and in April it will rain. You will sweat consider this, if you keep the water out that also means that you will keep the water ( your sweat) in, at the end of a days walk rain or not you will end up wet through one way or the other.
But it is the most wonderful place on earth to be wet through. Buen Camino God bless.

No one can predict the weather; I walked in April/May of last year and had only a few days of rain. To keep my pack light, I used water-repellent quickdry pants instead of a full rain suit. Had a silk sleep sack and was fine, but I “sleep warm”. Truly it’s personal preference.

Thanks Joe, I will try weighing my pack with or without sleeping bag and waterproof trousers, and make my decision or dither further, checking forecasts before I fly !

Thanks Terry, I had six weeks sunshine last year on the Camino, but don't think three weeks in Galicia , and Astoria in April will be as sunny ,

I'm starting the Primitivo on approx. April 27 and will be bringing a long pancho, rain jacket, and lightweight synthetic down. I'm still trying to decide on lightweight sleeping bag or silk/cotton liner only. I sleep hot also, and guess I could always sleep in clothes if I'm too cold otherwise.

Anyone else starting the 27th or 28th?

I've repacked! and should be ok carrying a light one season sleeping bag, and a silk liner, probably a light down jacket , and maybe a light gilet, and probably wearing my salomon boots.

The Lana runs from Alicante through Cuenca to Burgos, about 700 km long, I just walked the first half. It is a very solitary route and facilities simple, something like the Francés must have been 20 years ago.

I will definitely be arriving in Oviedo next Wednesday afternoon and plan to start out the 11th and walk to Grado the first day. The following day to Bodenaya. The rest I will see. The Primitivo has been on my short list for years but I kept walking other Caminos instead.

I have a bright turquoise colored Osprey backpack and am an "older" woman (see above minus the yoga mat). Maybe see you in the albergue.

OK, will look out for your pack, mine is a bit smaller than yours, though heavier than I'd like it to be, the lana is another camino to look into, might be good for the cooler months, at least the first part, you will be better prepared than me, I am working tomorrow, still then it's only two days until I start travelling.
