June 2019 from Sarria to SDC
Hi
Starting from Sarria on June 11th. Meanwhile trains from Madrid to Sarria appear on the RENFE site only until May 23. Does anybody know the reason ?
We bought a ticket for an Iberia Expres flight from Madrid Airport to Santiago but from there we have to take the bus to Lugo and from there to Sarria.
We still preffer the train.
Waiting for some goodnews from RENFE or from somebpdy from the forum

TIA
Gabi

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

I am experiencing the same problem, we are departing Madrid, May 25 so that is just under 4 weeks away . I have tried emailing Renfe and some of the on-line sites that sell train tickets about the direct train to Sarria departing 1pm from Madrid. Responses have been pleasant but not helpful. For the most part they just say that "the website usually updates 6 weeks prior to departure". I have my fingers crossed that the train availability will update this week (first of the month of May, perhaps). For anyone travelling this route in early May, it appears that there is construction on the line for a couple of weeks in the middle of May, and everyone will be taken off the train and put on a bus for a portion of the trip.
Please chime in if you have any additional information or insight

Too far out. Look on Loco2 and put in info and they will notify you when tickets are available.
Good idea, but unfortunately I don't think that this will work as Loco2 shows two options from Madrid to Sarria that take forever and require an overnight stay in some other town. Or at least I can'f figure out how to set up notification in Loco2 for a specific train. thx

Just click on the Alert button and they will email you when the tickets are available.

I found the link http://www.renfe.com/EN/empresa/comunicacion/incidencias.html which says in Spanish (use Google Translate) that between May 8 until May 24 there will be delays on the rout from Madrid to Galiciai. Perhaps ,because they are not sure about the end date of the works they don't put meanwhile on sell tickets after may 24. I advise you to use a flight from Madrid to SDC rnd from there by bus via Lugo to Sarria.. Use the link https://www.caminocomfort.com/2017/03/how-to-get-from-santiago-airport-to-sarria/ for information .

I am weary of checking the Renfe site every day for the late May train from Mardid to Sarria, so I just booked the 10 am bus from Madrid airport to Lugo and I plan to take a taxi from Lugo to Sarria. I think that the bus ticket is refundable, so if the train becomes available I might switch to the train. But for now, I am happy to have a ticket..

Do you have any idea on how much the taxi ride will be? I was planning on the 11AM bus from Madrid, but it arrives at 530PM which is when the MONBUS to Sarria leaves. The next bus to Sarria is not until 8PM.

I have no idea but renfe started offer tickets from madrid to sarria for June and we bought already ours for the 11th. Strange but the date of May 25 says that meanwhile you cant buy tickets for that date .Try again every day

Look same day of week but earlier, also, look at the German Rail site which covers all of Europe, they show connections that Renfe may not.

There is about an 8 day gap starting May 24th when Renfe is not showing the 1 pm direct train from Madrid to Sarria. I am guessing (as another member on this forum suggested) that Renfe is waiting to see if the construction along the route scheduled to be completed on May 23 will be completed. If the construction is not complete, I am guessing that they will put the train back on the schedule with bus part of the way around the construction (as shown in May through May 23rd).
Who knows when they will make the decision and post the train or train/bus to the schedule for those 8 days.

I looked on Rome2rio and it is showing $40-$50 for the taxi. I figure that there is a pretty good chance that there will be someone else on the bus from Madrid interested in sharing a taxi to Sarria. My plan is to take the taxi to Sarria, and if some reason the bus from Madrid arrives early, or the MONBUS to Sarria is late departing than I will take the bus. Too bad we are not travelling on the same day, as I think we are on the same bus route. I am catching the 10 am bus from the Madrid Airport stop.

RENFE are now showing the 1pm service but with a note saying ... tickets are not yet available for sale. Please try later. Apologies for the inconvenience... Very frustrating!

That is right for 24.5 + 7 or 8 days but later on tickets for the 1pm train are available. Notice that the price changes every day. We paid for June 11 27 EUR each and the day after the price for the same sevice was 16 EUR

Madrid to Sarria Tickets for the last week of May are not available for purchase at the Renfe website!

I think that this is meant to say "now" rather than "not". Ticket prices are €54.40 for second class and €70.70 for first class.

Hola @Gabile - I have quickly scanned the replies and there is some good info. If you are set on using RENFE you are caught in the cross over from winter timetable to summer and if memory serves the 11 or 12 June is the start of the summer time table. As its not a peak season or holiday you should be able to book in a week or so. The real advantage when you can see 40+ days on RENFE is the early purchase discounts and better seating options. Cheers

hello, I’ve also struggled to get the time of trains, available if I look at the week before. I contacted a hotel next to the Chamartin train station, where I’m staying the night before and they gave me the phone number for Renfe. When you ring it asks you to press a number for English speakers, which is great.
+ 34 91/2320320 From what I can gather there will be rail replacements if you are travelling in June from Santiago de C back to Madrid. In the past this service was direct at 9am but I gather it’s via Ourense and possibly a bus part of the way; not ideal if you have a Plane to catch in Madrid. Please don’t take my word for it and check it out for yourselves. I’ve decided to book my return when I get to Madrid so that I can find out more. Perhaps someone out there can find out more?

Not Madrid to Sarria, but yesterday I travelled from Santiago to Madrid. Could not buy ticket on line so went to tourist information office in Santiago. They told me that due to track work tickets are only available from Renfe offices. Went to Renfe and got a ticket. Spent a couple of hours on a bus as well as the train but the trip was good.
