Camino Frances (aug/sept 2019)
Hello, I live in Spain and have a valid Spanish Permiso de Residencia tarjeta (also referred to as NIE) and I am wondering if that’s enough for albergues or other situations where you need to provide id. There’s a foto on it, my ID number and address (in Spain.)

Do Spanish peregrinos bring both passports and DNIs?

There was another thread dedicated to this, but it dated back to 2008 and I thought to ask again for more updated/accurate info.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
i think the NIE is enough, that’s all I use when I am in Spain for everything but....I carry my passport (French) when I travel from England....
Just to be able to get back to England 😁😳 (hopefully these days 😉)
[Sorry mods, it was ‘tongue in cheek’! 😀]

Ok, thank you! Haha yes hopefully 😅

There are some situations where the passport is needed, but having a Spanish residency card in Spain would reduce those to such a minimum that they would be unlikely to arise. But I wouldn't want to generalise from that situation -- though if you're a national of an EU Member State that issues identity cards, then these are definitely sufficient.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Great, thank you for the info.

During our recent Camino (in Spain) we were able to use only our NIE cards and left our passports at home. This may however be different if you need to fly.
