Booked my “train” ticket from Santiago to Madrid a couple of days ago. This AM at the station we were told that we were to take the auto bus to Ourense and then the train to Madrid. But we are well past Ourense now and it looks like we’re going straight to Madrid, on a bus with no toilet!!! Buyer beware!

There are some local works at Ourense station ending today - don't think you'll go the whole way to Madrid on the bus

One affected train is
Alvia train leaving Santiago de Compostela at 5.48 hours and arriving in Madrid-Chamartín at 11.06 hours: transfer by road between Santiago de Compostela and A Gudiña station.

Here is the list of all affected trains and bus replacement services

Thanks for the heads up. They actually took us to a station about an hour south of Ourense. Folks were beginning to get concerned when they realised we were well south of the city. There was a train waiting for a number of buses from all over the area. Wish they had been clearer about what was going on.

That's why I never take buses unless it is a very short ride under 2 hours.

Yup. Checked the Alsa office before buying my train ticket. The ride was nine hours and they were charging €60 four days in advance. The train ride was €36 and change and was 51/2 hours. those who didn't book their train ticket a couple of days in advance ended up on the bus.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
There was chaos and misinformation on that line 6 months ago. I tried to book a ticket to Madrid at Ourense station and was told there were no trains. Then I saw all the pilgrims from Santiago in their way home being escorted to buses for part of the journey. I was pretty angry, as the ticket clerk had sold me a ticket by way of Leon!! I jumped up and down and saw the station manager before I succeeded in getting on the next replacement bus, which was almost empty.
