Orisson Refuge 2020 booking open!

Time of past OR future Camino
See signature.
Just reserved Orisson Refuge for 24 May 2020! Very excited to be starting the Camino from SJPDP that day and continuing all the way to Santiago, and hopefully Finisterre. Due to limited annual leave have only previously walked 6-8 days each year and took five years to do entire Camino.
Also doing Sarria-Santiago from 17 January to celebrate a BIG birthday🎂 Hope to meet some forum members along the Way.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Wonderful! I contected them last week to reserve earlier in May 2020 for my first night on the Camino (not counting my first evening in SJPdP) and received an email from them thanking me for my "pre-order"and explaining that I can expect to receive a payment request when my date is released "at a future date". But I haven't supplied any payment information yet, and am not sure whether this counts as an official confirmation. Is this how they generally handle reservations?

I also got the email confirming my pre-order, no option to pay. But am happy to have an order number! Apparently this system is new - previously all bookings were via email and a very long wait for a reply.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-

Yes, based on my earlier research I was led to believe the booking process would be more drawn out and nebulous than it actually seems to be. It's definitely good to have at least some confirmation of my request. Looks like we'll be missing each other there by about a week but wishing you all the best for a Buen Camino!

Buen Camino to you too!

You won't have an official confirmation until payment is made.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
I got my confirmation and paid for May 5th... woohoo 😊

Yay! How long did it take between making your initial reservation and receiving a request for payment? Just curious what the time frame is like. I'd imagine they're pretty inundated over there ...

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
I am confirmed but only half paid, though I guess this means I've got a definite reservation. I thought I would be paying it all at once, but a deposit of 42 euros was paid, with a message that the other 40 will be billed later.

A few weeks, just keep checking, they may be going faster now..seems many are getting their conformations

... And lo, I woke this morning to find a payment request ("facture pour la commande") in my Inbox! Total interval between submitting my initial reservation request and receiving this: four days :)

Thanks to everyone who helped shepherd me through the process! Perhaps I'll see some of you there next May? I'll be the one who looks like the photo in my user icon, as soon as I change it from a picture of my dog.

Orisson was actually completely closed for most of the month of November and weren't processing reservation requests

Booked, too, for April 24 in Orisson for our first Camino! I was able to send payment, via PayPal, for 1/2 the fee, about one week after booking. My husband and I are planning (Lord willing) the walk to Santiago. We are getting pretty excited and have loved reading the daily posts on the forum. What an amazing resource! Thanks, everyone!

Orisson is a lovely place with fantastic views from their outside veranda .... but you can reach Roncesvalles without the need to stop there. It will all depend on your fitness and inclination (play on words)

So the total cost for staying one night with dinner, bed and breakfast is €82? Prices have risen.

Their pricing is quite transparent: just before you pay for one person, it tells you:
  • 39,98€ - includes 3,30€ TVA 10%, 0,17€ TVA 20%, 0,68€ Taxe de séjour, 1,98€ Taxe Paypal estimated for the United States (US)
And that's 44 US$. Bed, evening meal and breakfast.

I did SJPP to Roncesvalles previously, but after hearing so many great stories from peligrinos about it, I was determined to stay in May. Can’t wait!

It's less a matter of "needing" to for me than wanting to - like @Corelacka I've heard good things about staying at Orisson, and since I'm planning on taking my time en route to Santiago I thought it would be a nice way to start my voyage. Good thing there are so many different ways to do the Camino, right?

What a great way to give back to the Camino. You can reassure the "new" pilgrims that the climb in front of them is perfectly achievable.

I have May 25th reserved and deposit paid. Once they began sending invoices, it took 2-3 weeks for them to respond to my request with the invoice. The invoice has a paypal link to pay for the deposit which is half of the total cost.

How exciting....... I'm walking my first Camino next year and also hope to walk to Finasterre. Do you plan on going to Muxia too? I keep reading how lovely it is there so hopefully may have time to take a bus ride from Finasterre if there is one?

It is indeed very exciting to be planning the full Camino! Yes, I am hoping to go to Muxcia and then to Finisterre. That way if I’m short of time I can get one of the many daily buses back to Santiago. Buen Camino!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

I understand from various Camino FB pages I'm on that people are now starting to get their invoice to pay their booking at Orisson. I guess they go through dates in order.

I figure, yes. It looks like they had a break in November as they asked me to book again after the 15th,. I did and have got the booking sorted for a night. Just before I got confirmation though, I contacted Orisson directly by phone and was told they are quite inundated and already some days are fully booked for advance reservations and for some days they cannot take further advance reservations. It sure is a popular halt!
Last time I walked the Frances, I just went straight through and the time before that I stayed in Valcarlos (with only 2 other pilgrims). Looks like times have changed and early bookings are essential if intending to stay in Orisson for 2020.

Yay.... we will meet at Orisson on the 24th, I've also had my booking accepted for that night 😊.

I made a online reservation at Orisson website on 15-Nov then received deposit payment notice about two weeks later. My wife and I are going to start our second Camino France on 10-May, 2020. We are very exciting to visit SJPP and Orisson again. 😘😘😘

I received a pre-booking confirmation number when I placed my reservation on Dec 2, 2019. Finalized booking to follow at a later date. No response as of yet. However some of the posters have mentioned having paid a deposit thru PayPal. No request of pre-payment was requested when I received my confirmation number.
Email information was given on request form - however I did not receive an email with the pre-booking confirmation number - it was only given on the website once my pre-booking reservation was complete. Is the only email correspondence when the booking has been finalized and request for payment has been made? Has anyone made a booking request after Dec 2nd as I did and already had a response their booking is finalized. I am being patient - just wanting to learn if I did anything wrong to hinder my reservation. Any responses would be appreciated.
Buen Camino

Hi Marcy I booked on 1 December and received my order number that day via email. I got another email on 5 December with the invoice attached and the PayPal link. I paid via this link. Hope you hear from them soon. Buen Camino

Thanks Corelacka for your response. I was concerned that I did not get any email response after I placed my booking and received a preorder no. Email correspondence will happen only after the reservation has been approved. Buen Camino.

Just a follow-up question. Did anyone receive a pre-order number when booking on the website but did not receive a confirmation email of receipt of pre-order? Without confirmation email does this mean my pre-order did not completely go through? Concerned there is a disconnect with my email address in US and the booking service. Any response appreciated. Buen Camino.

To All - disregard my posting from above. Contacted my email provider - he helped me locate the email response from Refugio Orisson. It was in a diff folder than junk mail. Anyway - all’s great. Invoice to pay as well. WooHoo!!! Hope to meet ya’ll along the Camino next May/June. Buen Camino.

Great news Marcy. What date in May are you travelling?

I got a reservation at Orisson for April 17 2020 - requested it late October and paid half on November 17 via PayPal. Anyone else booked there that night?

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Begin my camino on May 13 from SJPdP, first timer and feeling afraid and excited at the same time. I decided to stop at Orisson too. Don't wanna rush it and I know I won't be the strongest walker when on the way, especially at the start. Still waiting for the payment link though, but I'm sure it's gonna come. It has to! Buen Camino, everyone! :)

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Thanks! Just checked and nothing there yet. But from what I’ve read here, it takes ~5 days for them to send that payment link after the first (confirmation) email, so I guess I should get it tomorrow or on Monday. :)
