Time of past OR future Camino
Camino Frances (from Pamplona), Camino Portuguese (from Porto)
We have this night in albergue in Tui. It costs 6 euro. The hospitaliero is unpleasant person((. The bed is dirty with hidden empty bottle of water between bed and wall and toilet paper (hope - for nose!). Place for eating smells aweful, hospitaliero tried to vanish it with liquid that smells even worth than before!!!(( better choose another one! Buen camino!

It costs 6€??? Oh, my!!!

My abandoned railway station on Camino de Levante was free of charge. Smelled great and had wide open starry sky. But some rats were walking around in the night. And there were some empty plastic bottles lying around too. Can you imagine?

Maybe next time choose private room for 30€.

Buen Camino!

Welcome to you and your first post. There are not a lot of choices in Tui, so you may have to grin and bear it! It sounds like you are in the municipal albergue. At the end of the season you may discover that a lot of hospitaleros are running thin on patience. Keep in mind that other pilgrims left the litter. While the hospitalero has responsibilities for cleanliness, he/she needs the help and cooperation of the pilgrims.:)

More expensive but well worth it in Tui Took a rest day here and spent 2 nights at Hotel A Torre do Xudeu. The Camino Portugues goes right by the front door E0755001-CED6-43A8-9AE0-E4703445C691.jpeg

Hi @Happypilgrimgirl and welcome here. Well I guess that yesterday, when you wrote this, you were less happy...( sorry for the bad pun ;) ).

Like others already wrote here : it is end of season so I can imagine some hospitaleros are more than weary and tired. If I saw the amount of people last week arriving in Santiago I can only imagine how busy it must be on the second most " popular " Camino , the Portugues.
The fact that the hospi tried to clean the mess certainly proves she cares. But sometimes there is only so much one can do before another pilgrim makes a mess again....

You did not encounter bedbugs ? Check.
The hospitalera tried to clean up ? Check.
You survived to tell the story? Check;)

Please try to concentrate on the beautiful nature around you and the meaningful meetings on this Camino.
All the best and do come back to report how the rest of your pilgrimage went.

Ultreïa!

Thank You all very much! I really should be more patient))) Today we stay in lovely albergue in Arcade (Lameirinas). So comfortable beds and big kitchen! Everything is for pilgrims. Buen Camino!!)

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
And there is also a parador with precio de peregrinos and excellent beds😉

😄 😄 Yes, that’s what I was saying ... I would have been very grateful for the hot water!
Me too, but if I heard the water was cold I'd probably skip the shower that day...I've done that a few times for various reasons, but never have walked in the heat of summer where I'd be thankful for even a cold shower!

Hello, my friend of 50+ years and I are on our first Camino walk. We are looking for: 1) safe, comfortable hostels in Lisbon; 2) stages from Lisbon to Porto (via Tomar) in about 16 days...
