Has anyone done or considered this route? I’m starting to think about a Spring/Summer trip in the UK for about 7-10 days, and this seems very interesting. Plus the sea! 🌊 TIA.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Before I retired to Portugal 3 years ago, I lived near the route and walked on Dartmoor most weeks. It is nothing like any caminho routes. There's no real facilities en route specifically for walkers. It is very hard and challenging and you would be best to carry all your own camping gear. Wild camping is allowed on Dartmoor out of sight of the roads.

It is a great route to walk, some amazing places to see, but it is not anything like walking a pilgrims route.

Thanks @hughb Thats very helpful about the camping - I have seen there is very few, effective zero, campsites but have read a couple of write-ups where people were camping. I would want to do it in an acceptable way so I didn’t get moved on!

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

Walking on Dartmoor can be very challenging, there are very few paths and the going can be very boggy. As a young apprentice, many years ago, I took part in the yen tors challenge on Dartmoor. A 55 mile (88 KM) walk to be completed in 36 hours. It took months of training. It is still run today for youngsters.

It seems that I have lived in Spain for too long. I saw the reference to the Two Moors Way and immediately thought that this was some new Andalusian long distance walk. Dohhhh.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
That has made me chuckle. Maybe it could be, if you think there could be a route there!

I have, albeit a long time ago. It's tough walking and little accommodation, I mostly wild camped.

Dartmoor is my home territory, I come from Exeter originally and my Dad used to take me up there pretty much as soon as I could walk half a mile with him.

I walked it two years ago, agree with all other comments. Dartmoor and Exmoor parts were fabulous, especially Exmoor to lynmouth part but the bit in between the moors was really crappy. Wild camping though is a little tricky, have you considered the South West Coast Path ? Start Minehead and walk the Somerset and North Devon part which traverses the Exmoor Coast ? And wild camping is easy with no issues, you can watch the sun drop into the ocean, its Finisterra every day !

If you are looking for a weeks walking then why not try the Dalesway? The route is mainly valley bottoms from Ilkley to Windemere. ( http://www.dalesway.org/route.html )
There are plenty of B&Bs along this route and easy access to the start point via Rail.

this sounds good @Mick henro I’ll look this eve. I admit have a preconceived notion that the coast path is very up and down - and I am hoping to be pushing a 4 year old in a 3-wheeler...
