In the coming weeks the Camino de Santiago will slowly and most certainly, very carefully start to open up. We all pray that the pilgrims undertaking a Camino and all the townspeople along the way will stay safe and healthy. Several members of this Forum including myself will be participating in a beautiful project called La Luz del Camino https://www.facebook.com/groups/202437294137942/.

On or around June 21st a pilgrim with a backpack filled with light, a credential and 2 shells will leave Roncesvalles on its way to Santiago de Compostela, this in honor and remembrance of those who have passed away due to COVID-19. The backpack and its contents will be passed from one pilgrim to another, each completing a stage of the Camino Francés until it reaches Santiago de Compostela.
I'd like to personally thank all those participating but especially Mariló López, Jesus Ciordia and Lupe Molero for initiating this thoughtful project. Please contact one of them if you are in Spain and able to walk a stage.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I too will check this space and not sign in to Facebook. I managed to avoid them until the current conditions made it desirable to sign on to Zoom. I was not aware until after I had done so that they would pass my information to Facebook, and I am absolutely haunted by Facebook adds at present.

Thank you for sharing this, @LTfit !
I do not (and will never) have a FB account, so I also would very much appreciate updates here anout this beautiful pilgrimage of light.

No worries, no need to join FB, I posted the link in case someone wanted to read the original information. I'll let you guys know when the project starts, leaving Roncesvalles. At this point the organizers are filling the various stages.

What a beautiful pilgrimage and camino. Keep us updated, and kudos to the pilgrims involved. Buen camino to them!

If you are in Spain and interested, we still are looking for volunteers to walk with the Light from Sahagun to El Burgo Ranero, and from El Burgo Ranero to Mansilla de las Mulas. If you can and will, get in touch asap. Otherwise, I will start beating the bushes locally!
