Albergue Izarra for sale

Many of you know Alex, who started Albergue Bodenaya on the Primitivo and later Albergue Izarra on the Norte. For family reasons he has decided to put his albergue up for sale. Please share and pass on to all those who may be interested. Here is his original post on his Facebook page :

Buenos días Peregrinos.
La vida avanza y seguimos tomando decisiones que en el futuro se verá si son o no acertadas. El caso es que ahora toca otra vuelta de tuerca y de una vez por todas voy a intentar juntar familia con albergue y encontrar ese sitio donde se pueda hacer posible o donde nuestras actuales circunstancias laborales y familiares puedan hacerlo posible.
Por eso pongo a la venta el albergue de peregrinos izarra de caborredondo, albergue que se levantó con tanta ilusión como con tanta ilusión vino el peque que me tiene ocupado todo el tiempo y que me impide a día de hoy juntar mis dos grandes pasiones. Camino y familia.
Por eso sí alguien está interesado o conoce a alguien que lo pueda estar que se ponga en contacto conmigo por privado y hablamos de cómo funciona el albergue o de cualquier duda que puedan tener.
Puede que no sea un buen momento para ponerlo a la venta o puede que sí. Quién sabe. Es época de cambios y más después de estos acontecimientos, y vivir en una zona rural, y preciosa por cierto, y con tu forma de vida en casa creo que es lo más acertado a día de hoy.
Para los posibles interesados decirles que no quiero alquilar, solo venta.

Thanks for posting this. I was wide eyed when I saw the title, and although I do not know the owner, my response is just as heartfelt as it would be if it had been you who needed to sell... in the end, all will be well - these are not my words, and some can argue with them. They are true though. I hope that someone with resources to buy can do so, and live happily there till the passage of time opens up the business again.

@kirkie although I don't know for sure but I believe that the sale has more to do with his desire to find a better balance between family life and the running of an albergue than due to the Covid situation. Of course the Covid crisis and the ensuing confinement may very well have been an instigator for change. The last year or more another hospitalero had been running the albergue.

FYI the albergue in question was sold to an Italian woman.
