sleeping bag or not

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Welcome to the forum. The answer is no..just like a regular hotel room I think
Buen camino

My wife and I stayed in private rooms every night during our 2019. We left our sleeping bags at home - and that was a good decision. You can also leave you travel towel at home, since these are also provided. Bob

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
No sleeping bag needed, last 2 trips i just brought sleeping bag liner, didnt use it in private accomm but did in alberguies

I also just take a liner. V light and take up little space 👍🏻

Private accommodations - no need for sleeping bag or towels.
Most also provide shampoo and/or bath gel...except occasional pension type room.

If you are starting in SJPdP...and plan to stop in Orisson...no private accommodation...will need some covering for that night.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Pilgrims are normally required to bring a sleeping bag during this epidemic.

It's true that the requirement concerns the albergues, and so not private accommodation with a proper bed etc. But not all accommodation has opened in 2020, and I'd advise anyone contemplating this to make absolutely certain that no sleeping bag will be needed.

I'd normally advise those starting in mid-September to bring one along, as the nights can start to get a bit chilly from then onwards.

I agree. If you are worried about weight, at least bring a silk liner - you can always wear more clothes if it's cold.

If I intend to only stay in private accommodation do I need a sleeping bag?
I start from SJPDP on Thurs 13/08.
You will want a sleeping bag liner. You can still get bedbugs from a private lodging. I know people who did.

A silk liner is what I carried and it worked well. Light weight and takes up little space. It adds about 10 degrees Fahrenheit in warmth. For the one or two nights when I was cold I put on silk long underwear and my fleece. Slept fine.

I usually take one, because you just never know when you're going to need it, especially in these unusual times. You can always post it home if you find you don't need it. None-the-less, if weight is an issue, it's correct that most private accommodation, if not all, will provide bedding, towels etc. Good luck, enjoy your pilgrimage. Stay safe.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Though I have never needed a sleeping bag in a private accommodation, I always feel more secure with my sleeping bag for a couple of reasons. First, My bag is treated for bed bug protection. Second, I find many blankets heavy and uncomfortable and many have wool in them which makes me itchy and hot. Third, we usually mix accommodations and do not have exclusively stay in privat rooms, and Fourth, especially in the Fall, I have found an occasional bug sitting in the folded blankets on the shelf!

Zero need for sleeping bag in your case.
Never carry just in cases in your backpack.

According to the first post the OP started walking from SJPdP a week ago.

I wonder if she's carrying a sleeping bag . . . . or not . . . . ?🤔
:D

Just a silk liner would be enough for to "be prepared." If it's cold you can wear all of your clothes.
I have been thinking on this silk liner thing. Yes, it may deflect bedbugs but if all you need is a bit of coverage, why not look to the linen closet and take an old bedsheet or light blanket?

Because an old bedsheet or light blanket is a lot heavier than a silk liner.

No way to know, and for the most part questions are asked, advice is given and the OP's disappear. Sometimes without ever looking at the thread again after asking the original question lol.
Who knows, maybe somebody else with the same situation can read the advice comments given and benefit.

We may not be able to find out if the OP is carrying a sleeping bag, but based on her last year's post...
Lipstick, I guarantee if you see me next May and June I will be wearing it

...we may suspect she's carrying a lipstick :)🐢
