Does anyone know of a company who will transfer our luggage in the Camino de Levante please? Leaving Valencia around mid April.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Hi and welcome here.

Experienced Levante pilgrims will certainly give more practical advice but I'm rather sure there is no transfercompany on this Camino.
The Levante has too little numbers of people walking to make it interesting for the companies to operate.

Local taxis might be an option but of course more costly.

Happy planning.

Only few pilgrims hike on Levante. I walked on it in August 2019 : I never heard of luggage transfer. From Valencia to Zamora, I met only one pedestrian pilgrim

Hi, just wondering (walking with my hubby in 2022) did you know what the average cost of accommodation along the Levante was? Thanks in advance for any information you can give me - just trying to work out a budget of sorts.

Hi, Jude,

Welcome to the forum. I think you’ll love the Levante, but I’m virtually certain there is no luggage transfer. Taxis are probably your bedt bet and tat will be expensive, at least 1€ per km.

Hi @DreamHiker2, I walked in 2013 so my info is pretty out of date. At that time, the albergue situation was surprisingly good — I noted that half of the stages between Valencia and Zamora had albergues, and there have been more brought on line since then. When you join the Sanabrés in Zamora, there are of course many more. I confess that I didn’t always stay in the albergues and frequently took a small hotel/pensión option

We just finished a very detailed day by day ”virtual walk” on the Levante, which has lots of information on accommodation and prices as best as we could determine. It’s pinned to the top of the sub-forum on the Levante. I think you will get a good sense there. My experience is that the prices of lodging in Spain have not gone up much in the last few years, but who knows what Covid will do to the availability and pricing of these places.

Lots of forum members happy to discuss the Levante, so ask away! Buen camino, Laurie

Thanks Peregrina2000, very helpful of you and thank you for your response... Hope you are staying safe and covid free.

You can check the Gronze website for accommodation prices. If you use the Chrome browser it will automatically translate to English (or your choice of language)

I am not sure how reliable the Spanish Postal Service is but you could post a suitcase (in a box?) to four or five stages ahead. This would reduce your daily pack load. We did this on a trek across Switzerland some years ago.

In my experience, the Spanish Postal Service is quite reliable, but I know others who have had problems. The real issue, I think, is that on the Levante you are likely to spend many nights in towns without post offices.

I have been planning the Valencia route for a while (postponed for a while due to the current Plague) and have just assumed that pack transfer was not going to happen. I relied on it on the del Norte for making my life easier, but that's one of those things one has to forget about on less-frequented routes. Others have suggested taxi transfer, but that can add up. If you're taking luggage of the sort where you don't need it every night, prehaps just send the suitcase in a Correos box to your hotel in Albacete, or Toledo, or wherever your end- or mid-point might be.

@DreamHiker2 I have just assumed that I would be staying at private accommodation along the way, as that is my preference anyway, and worked out an average of 40€ between pensions and the occasional hotel, and about 20€ for food. I am sure that it can be done for less, but it is difficult to say at this point what the albergue situation will be when next the Camino is open, and as well, it is even more difficult to say what the prices will be like in 2022, when you are planning to go. I was hoping for things to open up in spring of 2021, but I now think that September may be the earliest sensible date. We'll find out when we find out. That's when we will find out.

Hi, we were planning Sept 2022 at this stage or perhaps Apr/May - hard to know at this stage. I saw my surgeon the other day and mentioned my plans for another Camino - he said he didn't think with covid that that would be likely - wonder what the medical profession know but are not telling us?? He wouldn't elaborate when I asked him for some reason just said that he didn't think covid would be a non-issue by then. Sure hope he is wrong.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I agree. Even when a vaccine is available it will be a long time before enough people have been vaccinated to reach herd immunity, and it's still unknown how long a vaccine will protect from the virus.
Maybe the herd immunity was his point as well - hubby and I were just talking about that as well.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
I would expect, nothing. There are many unknowns and his guess is as good/bad as any. I don't expect Covid will be a "non-issue" in 18 months, either.

From discussions with my GP, they don't know anything more than is generally known. However, they are aware of possible delays in vaccine production, and likely delays and headaches in widespread vaccinations in a short amount of time. Many years ago, a fine young Irish doctor told me that she could make educated guesses, while I could only make guesses.

True and he did say to me that from Australia we have to spend a long time travelling inside an airplane as well - confined space etc.. Still I remain optimistic and will keep watching old vlogs to get me through. Hoping everyone stays covid safe. Keep on planning
