Hello fellow pilgrims,
in 2019 I walked my first Camino (Camino Frances) and well I got addicted to the Camino and walking, so I planned my second Camino for may 2020 (del Norte) which did not happen. I wanted to get to Santiago on my 40th birthday, but then the pandemic...I walk a lot and still do a lot of hiking, which is ok here in Germany. Thank god we were always allowed to go on walks. So in the beginning of 2021 I thought how can I walk with purpose. Only 2km away from my door you can find the first shell which will lead to santiago de compostela (through Germany and then France). My dad is in my covid bubble of people and he said I could just follow the shells and he would pick me up at the end of the day. So I have been doing 4 walks towards Santiago (70km) and I set my self a goal to keep walking to Santiago however long it takes, now day walks during the pandemic until i can walk more days or maybe weeks and it is safe for everyone to stay overnight. It will probably take until the summer to get vaccinated, but then I hope I can walk in France, until then Germany to Santiago...
I am making a little video journal about it, nothing fancy, but I made English subtitles so my camino family from the Camino Frances can watch. Maybe it is too annoying with subtitles also the music is a bit off in the first video, but it gets better...
just thought I would share:
For the correct subtitles you have to click US English. So if you feel like checking out the way in Germany and follow (no plans yet, when to arrive since it is still 2.200 šŸ˜‰)

Miriam, I loved it ! Iā€™ve enjoyed a lazy breakfast listening to all youā€™ve put on YouTube. I wish I could speak German but the subtitles were clear. As were you ! Your face told a happy story.
ā€˜get up and goā€™ on your part during those conditions too. The icy section .. Iā€™d have been a little nervous.
Like you, I enjoy stopping and chatting to all the animals and I was again enthralled to see the sheep come running to the fence. It was interesting to see that you were able to obtain quite a number of stamps in your Credencial already.

looking forward to following when itā€™s possible for you .

from another of your tribe
Buen camino
Annie

ps... credit to your father too.. for his support and parenting.

Hi Annie, thank you so much for your comment :) the lambs and chickens were the stars of the video. I got quiet a few comments on them and I promise whenever I meet animals I will let them be the stars. I just love to meet animals along the way.
I have been enjoying to walk slowly and look at everything.
my dad is the best!!!! I hope he joins me walking for a couple of days when times are better...
Thanks for following along!

How wonderful you are able to walk on the Camino from home, and what a lovely Dad you have. Thanks so much for sharing. Buen camino from New Zealand šŸ˜Š

Yes, I am very lucky and grateful that my dad helps me out here. Also my 94 year old grandfather is so lovely. He enjoys the videos much, since he is a big Camino addict and he asks me every day: when will you walk and when will there be a new video? Very Lucky to have such a supportive family :))) and of course the shells close to my home leading to Santiago de compostela, just a Little 2.400km Walk...;) but there is no rush :)

Oh this is wonderful :) I can totally recommend walking from home. There are so many beautiful things to discover around the corner we never notice when driving by with the car :) I did my 5th stage yesterday and I hope I will get to edit the video in the next couple of days. I am having so much fun with this. We need to take that sour lemon and look for some sugar and we will get a tasty lemonade. Adventures are waiting for us in front our door :)

Hi fellow pilgrims,
The past weekend I walked my 5th stage from Germany to Santiago de compostela.
i have been learning some interesting things. I am always doubting, Doubting doubting what I am doing. But the good thing is in the end i keep walking... I put English subtitles in the video :)

4 more stages I can do until I get to France and to keep walking in France I definitely have to wait for hotels to open and for the vaccine. Fingers crossed it will happen soon. I cannot wait to walk in France :)

There have been several days while walking, I have asked myself "What am I doing here"?

Interesting video. I didn't realize that there are well-kept chapels along the byways of southwest Germany. The chapels really give it the feel of a camino.

There are so many that I decided to take a picture of every single one from my home all the way through France to Santiago and maybe make a little picture book for myself from this. If you really look at them and compare them, they become super fascinating :)
