Solo'd in 2010, planning a family trip late 2021
Time of past OR future Camino
2010
Hi everyone,

I walked the Camino Frances from SJP in 2010 solo, it was such an amazing experience on so many levels, but you all know that so I don't need to tell that story. Now, 11 years later, I'm hoping to walk the Camino Portugues (coastal) this fall with my Family of 4.

My question is less about our trip in particular, but how does everyone feel our return to 'normal' will evolve/present itself?

Vaccines are rolling out (in most countries) and everyone is now in such a state of desire and excitement for travel, but also very conscious of the risks and impacts of their own decisions. I personally noticed a lot of people talking about their summer/fall 2020 Camino plans which seemed quite surprising, but that's their decisions. With a new Camino season ahead of us, are we expecting a quieter year because of the still very present pandemic? Or will we see record numbers as people are tearing at their chance to travel again and use up all those saved airline vouchers?

My intention isn't to ruffle feathers or make anyone feel guilty for their decisions, but to open dialogue and see where everyone is at so I can better understand and plan for my trip later this year. Thank you for your input and thoughts! :)

Buen Camino/Bom Caminho

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Even more, it is a decision yet to be made by their home countries, by Spain and Portugal!

This is a question many people are asking - for example in this thread

Thanks, I didnt see this thread. Looks like my post is redundant.

Not entirely - since you are thinking about the Camino Portuguese, and posted in the right place. At this time, the general discussion probably applies equally to the Portuguese and the Camino Frances. As we get closer to opening (whenever that is) the situations may have differences. Only time will tell!

Sorry to be late in saying this, @grahamr83 , but welcome to the forum! I just wanted you to get the benefit of the discussion recently started recently on the other thread.

Welcome to the forum, @grahamr83.
It is a great plan to return to the Camino with your family. I am sure it will be a very different experience then you enjoyed in 2010....but still a lifetime adventure to share with those close to you.

I would like to walk the river route in Tui next month. I can see on google maps exactly where it starts, but it seems a bit overgrown. Has anybody used this route this year or last year...
Hello, my friend of 50+ years and I are on our first Camino walk. We are looking for: 1) safe, comfortable hostels in Lisbon; 2) stages from Lisbon to Porto (via Tomar) in about 16 days...
Hi I have searched everywhere to see if there is a luggage service from Lisbon to Porto. I know there is from Porto to Santiago, but Lisbon ???. Thanks for any info.
