Group meeting in Tampa - 3/15/14

Time of past OR future Camino
Fall 2012, again Fall 2014.
ATTENTION: PEREGRINOS in the Tampa Bay Area. I am organizing an informal gathering in South Tampa on March 15th. The purpose is to find out if there is enough interest in the area to form a social group for past and future pilgrims. The eventual goal will be to become a part of the APOC, either by forming a Chapter or combining with an existing Florida Chapter.

I have arranged for a local outfitter to bring some gear to display and to help answer any technical questions about gear and trekking. I will bring as many of my own guides, maps, books, etc., as I can muster. And I encourage everyone who attends to share their experiences and knowledge. Everyone interested in the Camino will enjoy meeting with other like-minded neighbors.

My wife and I have walked a portion of the Camino Frances in 2012, and we are returning later this year.

The meeting will be at the Panera Bread Hyde Park, 709 S Howard Ave, Tampa, FL 33606, at 2:00 PM on March 15th. Please contact me via PM if you plan to attend, or have any questions.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Great idea! I'll put it in my calendar. Do you have any idea how long it will take? I live in Kissimmee and will probably meet Tampa/St. Pete's friend for dinner after. Thanks!

Count me in. Fortuitously, I will be in Tampa visiting my son on that date.
I plan to start my first Camino middle of September this year from SJPDP and I need all the help/info I can get.
This is an answer to my prayers. Thank you!

I think a couple of hours should be more than enough time. Looking forward to meeting you.

I live in S Tampa and I will be there. I have done the Camino twice.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Thanks to everyone who attended our Tampa Bay Camino meeting last Saturday.
And a special thanks to Egan Anderson of Tampa Bay Outfitters for the wonderful presentation and discussion on Camino gear.
Of the group at the meeting, most everyone is headed for Spain in the Fall of this year. And one very experienced Peregrino is headed for Italy; Via Francigena, I believe.
Beth and I completely enjoyed meeting all of you, and spending a nice Florida afternoon in the fresh air. I hope we have a chance to gather again soon.
Best wishes and Buen Camino.
Marcel

Hi. That was several years ago and it was a one-off. We had a nice gear presentation from Tampabay Outfitters (https://www.tampabayoutfitters.com/), and lots of info was shared. I do not know of a Tampa Bay group active now. Buen Camino.

This may seem petty since the actual donation cost was minimal, but in February 2024, I sent some money to American Pilgrims (americanpilgrims.org) for two credentials in advance of an April 2024...
