OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Delta Airlines just cancelled my trip!

My flight was cancelled/rescheduled as well. Pretend you are Delta and schedule a bunch of nonstops from all your hubs to all of the major cities in Europe and then oopsie, turns out not that many Americans want to go to Europe right now and no Europeans are allowed in to the US. But- there are a lot of Americans who want to go to DisneyWorld and other Florida beaches, Cancun, etc. What to do? Consolidate your nonstops to just a few of your hubs, reroute everyone there, maybe change up a bit which European cities you are going to fly into, and then put all those big transatlantic planes into service from your hubs to Orlando and send the folks to see Mickey instead. Instead of Atlanta to Madrid nonstop both ways, I am still on a nonstop from Atlanta to Madrid but the way home goes JFK and then to Atlanta. And the plane from JFK to Atlanta is larger than the one from Madrid to JFK. Interestingly, all three of those flights have just about 100 people on each of them. There are 120-220 seats available on those flights right now, which suggests there might be some further consolidations before September gets here. I'd just roll with it.

Jeeeezzz! You guys will not believe it! Just received another email from Delta they are rescheduling my departure again. This time one hour earlier and i am about to forget about this trip and get my money back. Lisbon also is not getting better either! Maybe now i go next year! This will not be fun this way. I want to go so bad now but also getting tired of these changes. Its Covid i can deal with some difficulties, pay more for everything but no need so much trouble, i want to enjoy my first one too! Maybe in May is a bit better and i go! ☹️
An hour isn't bad, IMHO. If they changed the days, I would cancel. I expect more changes and don't mind as long as they don't change the days. I have had a couple of changes as well. You do what is right for you!

KLM / Delta left my family and I stranded in Spain. Ended up having to purchase a separate ticket home. $2500 for the 4 of us total, essentially on a walk up. "We've canceled your flight, we have no seats to get you home." Their site? $8000 PER SEAT ON THE SAME PLANES THAT HAD NO SEATS. To get a refund took the credit card company and some Twitter intervention.

The halcyon days of the early covid lockdowns.

Terrible. $8000 talking about taking advantage of people! Is Covid an excuse for that?

To be fair, the President had closed the borders of the United States in 36 hours time. Or at least in his speeches.

In practice, getting 2 million people from around the world back home is a gargantuan effort, and Homeland Security recognized it. It was an amazing time. Coming home was an adventure. We were among the first to miss the 5 hour covid lines at JFK as they'd finally come up with a way to get people through customs safely and quickly.

Jeeez! Which day was that?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
March 12th, 2020, 0145 Spain time.

Edit: March 11 here in the US.
I thought it was now. But still no matter when... it is a complicated situation to be in. I feel bad that happened to you. This situation is volatile, one needs to know how much risk, patience and willingness to deal with it all. I think for this time around i did my share. Just cancelled 14 hotel bookings today, the four flights also. And decided that even-though many times in life i try to adapt to challenges and go search for plan B, C or D, this is not how i want my first camino to be. There are different levels of covid, different levels of restrictions and impact. If was at the level i would be comfortable to risk with these changes, i would deal with, but now with what i see and hear recently i choose to stay home and walk my camino here. Just with myself and many already vaccinated doesn't guaranty that things are getting more settled over there. I wait for the best to come! For someone that waited 7 years, what is a few more months?
