Hi,

I was looking on American Airlines travel restrictions and I notice the Galicia Travel Form. https://www.sergas.es/Saude-publica/benvida-viaxeirxs.

Within a maximum period of 24 hours from its arrival in the Autonomous Community of Galicia, regardless of whether or not it presents symptoms compatible with COVID-19.

Has anyone fill this form out while walking the camino?

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
A quick read as to who is required to register says that the requirements re form filling are for those who have been in high risk countries in the previous 14 days.
USA is in this category.

Isn't it an obsolete form from a summer of 2020?

EDIT: no it isn't. Sorry! 🙏 it's current. Thank you Tincatinker

I find it confusing as it refers, as posted above, to a form from July 2020 but then mentions how an August 2021 resolution applies. Given that it seems that this is indeed an up to date requirement.

It is an up-to-date (current) requirement if a Pilgrim (anyone) wishes to take advantage of Galicia's "Covid insurance" - providing health care, accommodation & other support at no cost.

It's a form. Well actually its a means of collecting your personal and sensitive data to enable your access to a benefit. Remember when you signed on to Godgle, Tripeadvertiser, Gumthree, Twatter, Farcebook and all those other Apps & DB's?

It'll probably apply some relief from Tort ( the duty to behave as a reasonable person would behave in the [given] circumstances) but I'm no expert in Galician jurisprudence so please don't quote me ;). And anyway, your Grandma probably told you never to believe a Tinker

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
A selection of Camino Jewellery
I am included on the list because I live in Madrid. I had forgotten this requirement. I have called and they told me that it is still mandatory. So I'll chek next moth, when I visit my homevillage, if Madrid is still included.
By the way, @Pelegrin , where's your home village?

I have two questions. I will be walking from Sevilla and entering from Castile and Leon. Does this mean it is mandatory for me to fill out the form? I will have already been in Spain far more than 2 weeks when I arrive. I always buy health insurance before I walk the camino. I of course will get insurance that covers Covid even though I am fully vaccinated. As I understood from TInker if you fill out the form it will cover your medical and quarantine expenses should you test positive and need hospitalization or just if you need to be quarantined in a hotel. Do I have this correct? Will the albergue inform me if and/or ask for this form when I arrive in Galicia? I will not be in Galicia until November and I know things may be far different at that time. Thanks

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I finished 3 weeks ago and did not, and know of no one who did..but doesn't mean you should not.

The Galician government's website (link in the first post of this thread) tells you who has to fill out the form; it depends from where you travel to Galicia and where you have been during the previous 14 days. Scroll down to where it says so. This list of areas with high incidence rates gets updated regularly and it is published on their website and in the Galician news media. Currently, Castilla y Leon is not among those areas but Portugal and the region of Madrid is among them. This is why our Spanish forum member @Pelegrin explained a few posts ago that he is included on the list because I live in Madrid.

Copy-pasted from https://www.sergas.es/Saude-publica/benvida-viaxeirxs?idioma=es, 16 August 2021:

En este momento:
[...]
En los siguientes territorios de Europa: Andorra, Chipre, Francia, Islandia, Montenegro, Turquia Irlanda, Isla de Mano, Jersey, Malta, Mónaco, Paises Bajos, Portugal, Gibraltar, Reino Unido y Rusia.
En las comunidades autónomas y ciudades autónomas de España: Aragón, Baleares, Cantabria, Cataluña, Madrid, Navarra, País Vasco y La Rioja.
The special Galician Covid-19 insurance for tourists starts from the moment you either enter Galicia or check into a hotel or other accommodation in Galicia and probably while you are still healthy. I've not read the small print but obviously those walking from Castilla y Leon into Galicia will also be covered although they are currently not obliged to fill in the locator form.

Is this unique to Galicia? I ask because of this statement.

Who has to fill out the health form?

People, whether resident in Galicia or not , who come or have been in the territories of high epidemiological incidence for COVID-19 in the last fourteen days .

For the 14 days prior to entering Galicia, I will be on the Camino, so this form should not apply.

I think it would only apply if I was flying into CDS.

Okay, so I am looking at the form, and I am a bit confused.

First of all, the website says it is mandatory for "people, whether resident in Galicia or not, who come or have been in the territories of high epidemiological incidence for COVID-19 in the last fourteen days."

I plan on arriving in Galicia around October 16. Fourteen days prior, I plan to be in Carrion de les Condes, so technically not in a territory "of high epidemiological incidence for COVID-19."

Still, I figured I would fill out the form as a matter of course.

First question: "Departure" with a drop-down menu that says "Spain" or "Outside of Spain."

Departure? Would it be "outside of Spain" since I am an American, or would it be "Spain," since I am technically entering Galicia from Castile y Leon?

I know it sounds like I am overthinking this, but ever since COVID, all anyone has been doing is overthinking.

We will arrive in O'Cebreiro on our October 7th or 8th day of our camino and within our 14 days of arrival from the US. I was going to fill out the form "Outside of Spain" since we would be within our 14 days.

I finished my walk into Santiago a few days ago and have not heard of such a form. I did get my COVID test today for my flight to UK and then USA….that’s the only requirement I’ve heard off….a negative COVID test for flying…I have both vaccination shoots.

Yes, the form is unique to Galicia.

All these kinds of personal locator forms are designed primarily with the overwhelming majority of travellers in mind: people who travel to Galicia and spend their vacation there, whether they fly from Frankfurt to Santiago or go by car, bus or train from Madrid to the Galician coast. Long-distance walkers are not at the top of the priority list. If you are aware of the form and think you should fill it out when you cross the Galician border on a Camino then just fill it out as best as you can and use common sense when answering the questions.

Hey,
Was it east to schedule your COVID testing? Did you do 3 days before your flight to the US or from your first flight on your itinerary? Tks

Glad to hear you did not need to complete the form.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

We will probably fill it out since we will be in the Galicia area within the 14 days from arriving from the US. We will be there in October.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Believe so. When walking the Primitivo in June I saw a poster in the first albergue in Galicia about completing the form. When I asked about it I was told that they were not instructed to do so this year.
Definitely confusing. Just walked into A Fonsagrada and our albergue said we didn't have to. ????

From my experience, I can say that you should not believe the airlines and the information that they spread. They have flights to dozens of countries. I can't imagine what kind of staff should be to monitor changes in the restrictions regime daily.
Welcome to the forum, @qasder. You are replying to comments from August and September 2021. The link to the form of the Galician Government is as valid now as it was then. At that point in time, as now, people who come to Galicia, whether by plane, bus, car, or on foot, had to fill in the form WHEN and IF they had been in a Covid-19 risk area during the previous 14 days.

The Galician government determines which regions or countries are to be put on their list of risk areas and publishes it. The list changes, sometimes from week to week.

At the end of the summer 2021, Portugal and the Spanish regions next to Galicia were not a risk area. Hence, no need to fill in the form for pilgrims walking from there.

Some countries around the world were on the list. Pilgrims flying from these countries to Galicia had to fill in the form.

The information provided by the airlines was correct. You need to take the context into account. The airlines probably provided this context, too. You may be interested to know that staff of individual airlines doesn't monitor this kind of information daily. IATA and their Travel Center collects the information for them and provides access to it.

I will ask the forum moderators to close the thread as it is out of date. Enjoy the forum!
