Google Photos question

So as not to hijack the Camino Catalán planning thread, I’ve decided to start a thread with this particular issue.

@Doughnut NZ showed me how to get some google photos copied and pasted onto forum threads, which I appreciated very much. His post gave me a different link to google photos that I had never seen before. I had always gone into my google photos from a link that had the words “get” and “google” and “archive” in it (and of course I can’t find that link now). But the main google photos link is fabulous!

I can scroll along the years over on the right, and I can even type in a location and it will pull up pictures. Great features.

But I see that my pictures have stopped as of June 9. Does that mean that I did something on June 9 to stop having my phone pictures automatically transferred to google photos? If so, can it be undone?

Advance thanks to the usual suspects who will undoubtedly once again come to my rescue.

Laurie,
It may be because there was a new limit on how much info could be stored/kept in Google.
See more here.

Thanks, @mspath. That’s a good guess, but I should have said that the page tells me I have used 37 out of 101 GB of storage.

But, reading the press release, it does seem oddly coincidental that my pictures stopped being stored on June 9 and the policy went into effect on June 1. I guess I will have to try to contact them — that’s always fun.

Your phone uploads the photos to Google photos, so it could be that somehow on June 9 a setting on your phone changed, and the photos are no longer being uploaded.
I have an Android phone, and if I open the Google photos app, by clicking on my avatar, I can get to the settings, and in particular to the back up and sync setting.
So you could check that your phone is still syncing the photos with Google.
If indeed it is an issue with syncing and you fix it, then Google photos will resume any syncing of your photos from when it stopped.

It has been a struggle for me to do anything since my kids went off to college so many years ago. Now if I want to do something I just wait until I see them and have them do it.
Boy do I miss the days when I would hand my laptop to one of my girls and say make it work. They would reply with what's wrong with it and I would say again. I have no idea just make it work. They would mumble something that daughters shouldn't be saying to their daddies and then they would make it work. ;) :) ;) :)
