The EU will recommend to its member states to reintroduce the restrictions on US travellers, sources have told Euronews. #BrusselsBureau https://t.co/45sMQb1gMt

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

You'll note that that assertion is appended with a ? mark. Contains no link to any official website and that there is no such announcement, currently, on any of the official websites.

What would journalists do for a living if they couldn't just make stuff up?

Sorry tinca, it's a Reuters report has been running for a few days. Statement from our European union expected soon. The link is to Euro News a reputable station.

CNN reporting.
(CNN) — The European Union is expected to recommend on Monday that member states reinstate Covid-related travel restrictions and halt nonessential travel from the United States and five other countries, a diplomatic source told CNN.
The EU would reestablish coronavirus travel restrictions such as quarantine and testing requirements for unvaccinated travelers from those countries, according to the source.

We already closed one thread that was jumping the gun, so please resist the urge to speculate. The report that the EU will remove the US from its “safe list,” which carries with it a non-binding recommendation that its members impose travel restrictions on the countries designated, seems to be well corroborated.

What is totally unknown, though, is the reactions of the member countries. You may remember that when Spain first opened its doors to US non-essential travel, on about June 7, the US not on the EU safe list. Spain required vaccinations to enter. When the EU put the US on its safe list in mid-June, Spain removed the vaccination requirements.

Thanks to a post by @dgrauman on another thread, there is official documentation from Spain assuring that the US will stay on its safe list till September 5.

For the next few days, then, no need for people going to Spain to worry about getting in.

Updates are welcome, but only factual ones please!

I don't think the reports are saying a ban is possible just further hoops to jump through, European visitors to US have restrictions, better members of the forum are aware of possible changes to travel sorry if I have worried some future pilgrims.

Can you see the United Kingdom on the EU 'safe' list? Because I do not see!
Are there like hundreds of thousands of British tourists holidaying in Spain now? Yes they are!

This shows how much Spain cares about EU 'recommendations'. Don't cancel your Camino yet! Spain needs you and your American $$$ 😃

The EU has made that recommendation today. At this time it applies only to unvaccinated US travelers.

No. Official figures suggest that there are a few thousand. The second-homes are gathering dust and the "Full English Breakfasts" are set solid in the freezers waiting for better days. We are not even expected to return next year. Resort allocations to the travel industry for 2022 are down 60%.

Bournemouth is fully booked ;)

Several reports say that this a retaliatory effort to get the US to lighten up on travel restrictions for Europeans.
Or possibly because the case rate in the US greatly exceeds the standards to be considered a "safe" country?

"The threshold for being on the “safe travel” list is having fewer than 75 new Covid-19 cases daily per 100,000 inhabitants over the previous 14 days. Currently the United States has an infection rate roughly seven times above that threshold."

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Bournemouth is as nothing compared to the Lake District!

Confused tourists are being ejected from my local every few minutes for complaining that there’s a head on their pint.

I’m off to Malta.
I think there was a "law" in Australia when I lived there that forbade ever serving a pint with a head. It meant immediate termination for the bartender.

So, here in Italy the newest government decree requires travelers from the US to have a negative COVID-19 test (within 72 hrs) in addition to proof of vaccination. You may want to check the ministry of health site for Spain to see if there are new any new requirements from people going from the US to Spain.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Rte, Irish news, echoes exactly what Mickmack says... not Cnn. The point is - we are still bouncing around, buffeted by the winds of Covid 19. Take the slipstream when it offers itself...

I'm going to close this thread for now. As has been said, the winds of change are still blowing. Whatever the rules are today they may (and probably will) change tomorrow. Those making risk based plans will no doubt continue to do so.

Given that the EC makes its decisions on Friday and announces them on Monday with member states free to follow, or not, any recommendations the answer to any question on access or egress is (????).

Happy planning Amigos
