Camino Levante guide book in English

Time of past OR future Camino
FRuture: Camino Sureste (2022)
Dear fellow pilgrims,
I am considering walking the Camino Levante next year and I am looking for a guide book in English text if there is any.
Does anyone has any information. I tried the amigos del Camino but they have only a spanish text version. Also tried to download the maps but I keep having errors.
Looking forward for any feedback.
Thank you and bien camino.

Hi Raymond. Thanks for posting. I'm actually planning to do the same next year and am also looking for a Camino Levante guide in English. Unfortunately, I haven't found one yet. I'll keep looking. I'm not sure if it helps you, but there is a 2020 Outdoor guide in German from Conrad-Stein press which I will order at some point. https://www.conrad-stein-verlag.de/buecher-shop/spanien-jakobsweg-camino-de-levante/.

I hiked it with the Spanish guidebook and left the maps behind due to weight concerns. My Spanish is rudimentary but the guide was perfect. The Amigos need support so go for it!

If you need reassurance, contact me with your details and I will send/give you my copy. I simply loved Avila and Toledo and especially Tembleque butwould never do that hike again (unlike the Plata which I have hiked three times).

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

I also plan to walk the Levante in June 2022. I look forward to reading any information from this posting. -Gigi

Have you put the link to www.vieiragrino.com
- onto your phone?
Although the descriptions etc are in Spanish. -(on my iPhone ) I can select ‘translate to English ‘ in the address bar by selecting the ‘ Aa ‘ to the left of the address.

Also the tracks can be downloaded - I use maps.me

Buen camino

Hi, I contacted the association and was able to purchase a book through them in english. Do you already have the association link? Here is their email - info@vieiragrino.com

You should check the date of that book. I think it may be very much out of date. The best option, IMO, is their online English language guide, which goes stage by stage and has good accommodation info.

Buen camino. It’s a great walk. Lots of castles, lots of interesting towns, lots of good albergues, and lots of beautiful wide open spaces.

Hi filly,
The Levante is top of my list for the European spring of 2023 (I thought the Levante would, in some ways, be similar to the Via de la Plata which I walked in 2018 & loved, so I’m really interested as to why you “would never do that hike again”.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Check the publication date. My understanding is that they never did an update to their original 2009 English version. And that the updates are on the web version of the guide.

Their bookshop online shows both a 2009 and 2013 version in Spanish but only a 2009 version in English. Looks like they’re not updating the Spanish version either.

Thank you for the link, we are hoping to walk the Levante next spring. I briefly found your PDF for the Levante but then promptly lost it… would you be able to provide the link again? Many thanks!

I did the de levante/sanabres in 2021 and found no English guide for the de levante section. I bought the German one by Stefan Markschies. Although I speak and read zero German, I did find the maps useful enough to get by coupled with some google maps satellite help when required for clarification. I did some research on the route before I started for good measure.

FWIW, With @peregrina2000's permission I started a Levante App based on the virtual thread from during the quarentine. It only has content from the virtual thread, as well as a gpx and offline maps, and of course has distances and stuff too. It should publish soon and is free as part of the series of community sourced guides. Check to see if it is ready before you go, and if you have the time and desire do leave comments in the app as you go for the pilgrims following behind. The info is also compiled here: https://www.wisepilgrim.com/camino-levante-valencia

Any and all contributions are welcome, and part of the philosophy behind the guides which are meant to promote the lesser traveled routes.
