I agree and have done that in the past.I usually prefer to not head to the luggage conveyer belt and wait as it can take too much time when I need to get to my next connection on a train or bus.

I would NEVER check my backpack. If it is lost or if it takes a few day to get your luggage you are screwed. Carrying your backpack through an airport is a good final runthrough before your camino. Also when you arrive and I am sure you will be...
