    Internet Cafes?

Most towns / villages in Spain have a public library, (opening hours can be irregular and you may have to wait in line), that also provide free internet access for visitors / pilgrims.

    Help charting journey

I'd recommend the 120km stretch between Logrono and Burgos in the La Rioja region - great food and wine, and the landscape should be very colourful in the summer.

    Accommodations in Bayonne

If you have no luck there, I used the Hotel Etap, a 20 min walk south from the train station. http://www.etaphotel.com/gb/hotel-3685- ... ndex.shtml

    Albergue review

Just writing up my trip notes after a great pilgrimage along the Camino Frances. Details are getting hazy so any errors are my own (as are the opinions about the following places)... Day 1 Bayonne - Hotel Etap 38E, clean comfortable, bath, TV, buffet breakfast for 5E - location on main road &...

    Astorga

Villfafranca is a really nice place to stay for a few days if you're not feeling well. Plus they have great wines, they say the Bierzo region rivals La Rioja for the quality of its wines, but not as well known! Buen camino

Booking accomodation or do you just walk in

Hi Therese Municipal refugios don't take reservations, but as a walker, you have priority over cyclists. Private hotels , casa rurals can be booked ahead. Had no trouble finding places the past month, although heard this will change in May (many Germans), up to July / August (many Spanish)...

timeline limitation- where to fast forward?

If I had to skip bits, it would be Sahagun and 10km either side of the town 15km before Burgos 8km before Leon (from Archueja?) 10km after Leon (to Virgen del Camino) last 25km from Santa Irene to Santiago, but that stops you getting the compostela

    rough cost estimate

I paid just over 1000Euros for a months trek from SJPP to Santiago - staying in refugios for the most part, but not stinting on food or drink! 30-35E is a good estimate if you're not staying in private digs, taking too many taxis etc.

Details on how to go from Bayonne to Saint Jean Pied de Port

Don´t get too fussed if you don´t buy a ticket beforehand. It took me all of 2 mins to buy a ticket (8.6E) and then head out the station, turn left and head to the parking lot where the bus was waiting. Put my rucksack in the boot, and we were off 5 mins later. Took the 11.47a.m. bus...

Blankets in Castillo y Leon hostels

Yes, am having a rest day in Burgos (fantastic pilgrim hostel just to the side of the cathedral). And only carrying a silk sleeping liner '- not needed a sleeping bag so far since all the albergues have provided blankets. BUt have heard it gets a lot colder at night on the meseta than in...

Blankets in Castillo y Leon hostels

Heard that the hostels along this part of the route are quite rustic, and some don´t supply blankets, despite the cold nights. Wonder if anyone could advise which places have blankets so I can plan my walking day to get to a place where I can be warm! Thanks in advance for any responses...

Non smoking pubs on the Camino Frances

Realised how much I´ve got used to non smoking pubs - bars when celebrating St Patricks Day in Logrono. Could only stay 10 mins before having to leave from the amount of fumes - smoke. Anyone recommend - advise on any bars or pubs that have a non smoking policy along the Camino Frances route...

    Cheap Accomodation in Bayonne?

I stayed in Hotel Etap to the east of the town centre (about a 20 min walk from the train station). It cost 38Euros for a double room, very comfortable, and excellent value breakfast for 4.70E. Plus they gave a voucher for the adjacent restaurant - great meal for 20E. Link below...
