The "recommended"s might be from the column on reservations are required/recommended. I did add a few comments, though, when I could remember particular details. I also didn't stay in a lot of the places, as I wild camped about half...
It's in Norwegian kroner. And a lot of even the dorm accommodation is quite expensive compared with the Camino ... but not nearly as much as if that were dollars or euros!
Also you can legally camp anywhere outside towns, as long as you're 100 to 200 metres from a house. (The numbers I...
I've been meaning to post this (attachment at the bottom) for a long time. It's an accommodation/food list that I put together last year, based on information in my English guidebook, the Olavsleden trip planner, and the most up-to-date accommodation list at the time (May 2018). So I imagine...
I went solo and met several other women (20s, 30s and 60s, generally) who also walked on their own and never heard of any problems. I camped outside of campgrounds without problems, too.
Also, if you're aiming to be in Trondheim by July 28 (when the St. Olav festival starts), you'll actually...
Hello,
I have a question about the Gudbrandsdalsleden in Norway.
Basically, I've been having tent troubles. (It was hard to decide on one in the first place, and then the one I ordered was heavier than the reviews said, as I guess it's been recently updated.) So a friend said he'd sell me his...
Hi Michael,
Did you ever end up making your list? I was thinking of doing up one myself....
Oh, and there's an updated accommodation list as of last month.
Thanks,
Anna-Marie
Hello everyone,
I'm planning to walk the Gudbrandsdalen way starting at the end of this month. I'm just wondering if there are likely be a lot of mosquitoes and/or other biting insects. I've been planning to camp, mostly, but that doesn't seem like it will be very pleasant if there are lots of...
Sorry I've taken so long to reply--I've been away from here for a while. I'm so glad my albergue list was helpful.
It was great reading about your experiences. I can't imagine walking in all that heat. I'm glad you had a good few weeks, and I hope your surgery went really well!
I left Le Puy at the end of August 2008. It was really hot to begin with, but became chilly (but not awful) by the end of September. I only had one day of serious rain (near Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port), though there were brief rain showers at other times.

There's also (or at least there was in 2008) a pate manufacturer that had a shelter with a picnic table for pilgrims and a bunch of pate left out with a price list. They trusted us to take what we wanted and leave money. I can't for the life of me remember where it was, but I think somewhere...
Hi Gert,
According to my CSJ guide (it's from 2011 but I believe the general info hasn't been updated since 2004--it's only the accommodation that changes yearly), it's "extremely difficult" to walk backwards. However, there are white arrows that mark the route backwards from Gijon (don't know...
