    I Would Have Left SJPP April 10. Where Would I Be Now?

    It was nice to see the photo of the white asparagus. My husband and I walked the Camino in August 2017. I never had white asparagus before. But there it was always in our salads. So this brought back many good memories.

    Class of 2018

    I am returning this year for 2 weeks in August to walk sections I skipped last year. I won’t be able to walk all of them but that will be a good reason to return again. Starting in Estella to Burgos then try to get transportation to Castrojeriz so I can walk to Formista. Well that’s my plan.

    Last year we arrived around 10 and the ALSA tickets were sold out until evening. Fortunately, we were able to buy tickets on a different bus line called PLM. It stopped in Logrono for sure I’m not sure about Leon.

    In August I used a sleep sac but this time of year you will want something warmer. Alburgues basically give you a bed with a mattress, some might rent sheets.     Bed bugs advices please!

    By the way, my husband had a few bites but nothing like me. The night I got all the bites, he was on the top bunk. Perhaps the bugs were satisfied with me and didn’t need to go further. If I go this summer, I plan to bring a large black garbage bag and keep my backpack in it when in the room.

    Booking private accommodation

    My husband and I just finished the Camino. We used bookings.com when we wanted a private room although you can also call most Albergues directly. We/I often wanted to give my fellow peregrinos a break from my husband's snoring. Download the app it is now my favorite.

    Pack Protection

    Very grateful for health center in Arzua. In and out in less than two hours. Got treated for severe allergic reaction to something (all my bites???)--eyes almost swollen shut. Got meds around the corner. Then witnessed epic hailstorm. Tomorrow Santiago!!!!!!

    Is Dousing My Silk Bag with Pemetherin (for bed bugs) a Bad Idea?

    Thank you for the suggestions. Is it possible to get permethrin along the Camino? How can I ask for it? I'm using DEET now and washing clothes either by hand or in machines. I really am starting to think it's my O- blood they love!!
