Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2020?

While technically I could be on long walks and even hikes the whole time (living in Sweden), due to not having fully recovered I restrict myself to the hood ;) This was taken a couple of minutes ago behind the house. i wonder when our little cove will be finally free of ice so we can launch our...

COVID Forum Members and COVID-19 Illness

So sorry to hear! Condolences to you and your family. I lost two close people, a friend and our neighbour, during the the last weeks and had to realise that as due to Covid-19 a lot is on hold, the ceremonies will be delayed and the whole "process of mourning" is disturbed in times of...

COVID Forum Members and COVID-19 Illness

There are many quick antibody tests around where the reliability is simply not known yet. There are two problems: 1) Different Corona viruses are so similar, that it is hard for a test to distinguish reliably between them. So it could be that someone is tested positive for antibodies, but those...

COVID Forum Members and COVID-19 Illness

I did no know this thread existed before someone gave me a nudge ;-) As I guess someone might find it helpful, both to judge his or her own situation but also to feel calmer or not alone. Hence I will outline my story. To make it brief, after weeks with a whole bucket of symptoms ramping up I...

Thank you. I can tell you Covid is not really fun even with what is considered rather mild symptoms ...

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2020?

Yes, the Vulkaneifel is a scenic area in Germany. At least you can train, I am not allowed to, which is annoying :-/

Sorry to hear about your job :-( ... an all too common fate these days. But a cool place to live!

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2020?

Calling it a pizza would not do italian pizza justice ;-) ... It is more a round, flat bread, already baked, but I needed the fire to thaw it. Attached to it is a slice of local smoked sausage that also needs to be thawed ;-) Nevertheless a warming tasty combination out in the cold :-)

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2020?

We have moose, badgers, deer, reindeer, ermines, otters, beavers, you name it ... and lots of feathery wildlife too. Yesterday we had a large white-tailed eagle circling right over the house. Deer sometimes stare right through the window. So the dogs are used to all that in a way. That does not...

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2020?

Today I only went on a short walk, close to the house. Got quite short-breathed due to the stupid virus, even simple walks feel like an expedition at an altitude over 10 000 feet now ;-) ... But I was lucky enough to find some fresh bear tracks. The traces in the snow reveal that the brown bear...

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2020?

We were on several trips with our huskies between January and March. Technically not always "walking" ;-) This is in the North of Swedish Lapland where we live. So no long journey to get started on these trips :)

Let’s take a garden walk this week

In walking distance we have plenty of both :-). Here in Sweden we call them hjortron and blåbär (cloudberries and billberries). Also lingonberry which stays fine under the snow and last year's berries can still be harvested this year right after the snow is gone. However around the house we have...

Let’s take a garden walk this week

This photo taken from the tip of the premises/garden looking at the river. Today there is a lot of water on the ice as the sun is burning down ;-) You could actually stand there in a t-shirt already if it was not for the wind today ... In the summer, where I am standing now, is actually not a...
