Hello! I walked the Via de la Plata from Sevilla to Santiago in the spring of 2015 and am looking to go back for seconds - this time I'm considering walking the Camino Frances, but am concerned about the crowding. I am looking for a more spiritual experience and have heard that nothing compares...
Hi all,
I will be walking Dec 23-Jan 3 and am undecided as to what route to take. I did the VLDP in 2015 and want to get back on the trail. Was thinking either Porto to Santiago on the Camino Portugues, or Malaga to Cordoba on the Camino Mozarabe. Does anyone have any expereince with these...
Hi George,
That certainly looks doable, though I was originally avoiding the Camino Mozarbe because it passes through the mountains (at least the route from Almaria does) and I would be likely to get snow that time of year. Can you send me the link to the blog you spoke about ?
Thanks!
A
Hi George,
First off, there is no shame in walking some parts! Each Camino is specific to the person and if you were honoring yourself and needed to walk, that is OK.
I walked the VdlP about a year and half ago and have already done the Sevilla-Merida stent. I was hoping for something...
Hello,
I will be walking the Via Agusta December 15-24, does anyone have any experience walking at this time of year? If so, what tips do you have for packing? Are things open? Should I reserve hostels ahead of time, especially given that I'll be walking so close to Christmas? Any input is...
Hi Allen,
It's been a few years since this post and I hope you are doing well. I myself walked the VLDP last year and enjoyed it dearly. I am considering returning this winter to do a portion for the sake of it and am wondering what walking weather in late December/early January is like. I...
Hello everyone!
I walked the Vldp in the Spring of 2015 and am interested in returning for 2-3 weeks to walk a portion of the Camino Mozarabe this winter. What is the weather like in late December? Any pointers or feedback on winter walking in southern Spain would be appreciated!
Ariel
Hi Michelle!
I think now that I've decided to walk the VldP I will be investing in a sunhat. I used to work in the outdoor industry and am not much of a believer in sock liners, but I do plan on using the Vasaline trick. When are you beginning your pilgrimage in April--perhaps we will be each...
Thank you everybody! It has been my experience traveling outside of the USA, though I haven't spent much time in Europe, that tampons are not readily available overseas. I have also changed my route from the Camino del Norte to the Via de la Plata route out of Seville. Anybody have any idea what...
Hello all,
I have recently changed my route from the Camino del Norte, to the Via de la Plata route from Sevilla. I am considering doing the entire walk in Chaco sandels--which I regularly hike in at home in the summer time. This might be stupid, as I'm walking 1,000 kilometers. My other option...
Hello everybody!
I have been planning my Camino for a good 6 momths at this point, I'm leaving for Madrid on March 31st and will be spending Holy Week in Seville with a Couchsurfing host, and I decided to switch my route from the Camino del Norte to the Vial de la Plata. I am doing this...
HI Annie,
I am bringing the camera and the film because I have many qualms with technology and my addiction to the internet. I thought about taking my iPod which has a camera a wifi connection--but I really want to disconnect from the world and do not want to be posting on Facebook or Instagram...
Thank you everybody for your input--But, I deceided last night to switch my route to the Via de La Plata from Seville. Does anybody have an idea what the internet cafe situation is like along this route? I will also post under that route's thread--but any input is helpful!
Thank you for the advice!
I am also curious if I need to invest in a real guide book for the camino del norte. At this point, I just planned on taking a map and a list of albergues along the route. I plan to choose my destination each morning rather than having set stopovers before I am on the...
