No beds on the last 100km into Santiago

This sounds wretched - I hope the rest of your Caminho goes as smoothly as possible and you can relax a bit after you get to Santiago.

September 2017 Camino Frances Walk Single Canadian

Hi Taylor, There's already a lot of great advice here, so I won't add much to it! I'm from Nova Scotia and walked the Francès from Leon to Santiago in September a couple of years ago. The weather that time of year (for me, anyway) was pretty terrific, so you can get by with a sleep sheet or...

Camino Frances - Ponferrada (01/05) any parts to avoid alone?

I agree with @Tincatinker, this part of the Camino is very well-traveled and you should have no trouble on your own or finding other pilgrims to walk with if you choose. Stay alert to your surroundings, bring a headlamp or flashlight/torch for earlier hours, and enjoy every minute of it as much...

    Canadian bank card?

Upon further reflection, I recalled my friend who went with me got a prepaid, reloadable Visa. I believe you can buy those in the gift card sections at Superstore or Shoppers Drug Mart, or even at your local Canada Post outlet. That might be a more straightforward solution to reach the same end.

    Canadian bank card?

Hi all, I don't have PC Financial, but can speak to Scotiabank - I used it with no trouble at Barclays in Spain. They're part of the same global ATM alliance and I could make withdrawals at no cost. That may be useful info you, @TinaPEI, in selecting a second bank card. That said, they're...

List the albergues that offer communal meals!

In Villar de Mazarife, there was a communal dinner at Albergue San Antonio de Padua. I second @GettingThere's Albergue A Reboleira at Fonfria suggestion. We had the same great meal and some amount of fun times!

    A Muslim walking the Camino?

Hello Mahmud, Like Wayfarer said, you will encounter people from the full faith spectrum and from many interesting corners of the globe. I walked in 2014 and met far more people pursuing a spiritual or cultural pilgrimage, compared to a religious one. All along the way, I encountered people who...

Starting just before Sahagún/mid-way from Roncesvalles?

Hello there, My flight plans have me arriving in Madrid a few days before the friend I'm planning to walk with from León. To get the most out of my time in Spain, I thought I may start my Camino a little further back - as far as Sahagún. Since it's close to the mid-point marker near Ermita de...

    Joining the Class of 2014

Hello peregrinos! I've been lurking on the forum for about a year or so and have found it an incredible resource. You've built a very nice community here, something I'm looking forward to experiencing more as my Camino gets closer. I'll be doing the last 300km or so of the Camino Francés in...
