There is also a municipal albergue in San Pedro de Mérida - though we did not stay there. Have a great time!

Camino Mozárabe from Granada in September/October 2014

Hi Lt, Having walked from Granada to Santiago this past spring, I know you will have a fantastic time! We saw no other pilgrims for the first three weeks and particularly enjoyed the Granada-Cordoba leg. Looking forward to reading about your journey

Easter 2015 on Via de la plata

We spent Semana Santa in Caceres this year - fabulous We booked our accommodation well in advance, but once we got there our hotel told us that tourist numbers were down and there were still good deals on room charges. The parades were held day and night and viewing them was easy. However, it...

Macabi skirt - I'm taking the plunge

I wore my Maccabi every day for nine weeks while walking the Mozárabe/via de la Plata/Sanabres in March-May this year. Although a little chilly first thing in the mornings, I found that I soon warmed up. Leggings were unecessary when walking. On long sunny afternoons I hitched up the sides, but...

Via de la plata- Hard Map?

Hi Amanda, have you tried Peter Robbin's "The Walking Pilgrim" website? He has maps that can be easily accessed. However you may not need to have a map for every stage. We found that we tended to get lost in towns rather than on the route. Good luck!

Maps of Via de la Plata

Hi Kerrnell, Walking from Granada this year, we used a combination of elevation data from Eroski, Alison Raju's book (old but still useful - note I am referring to the guidebook, not the accommodation booklet), Melanie's app, and maps from Peter Robbin's "The Walking Pilgrim". The latter were...

    Malaga Camino - Mozarabe!

Hi Jim, hope your feet have been behaving and that it has not been too hot. Having done the Mozarabe, starting in Granada in Spring this year, I know that you will have a fabulous walk. Of course we had perfect weather (one day of rain in 63 days!) and mostly cool days, which made all the...

Backpack for skinny woman over 50?

Hi, I, too, have a slim frame (5'7", 59 kgs) and have used all three main contenders: Aarn, Gregory and Osprey. I did the Camino Frances with the Aarn and the Mozarabe/via de la Plata/Sanabres with the Gregory. I loved my Aarn pack and found it the most comfortable in terms of load distribution...

LIVE from the Camino live from the Mozárabe

Forgot to elaborate on the state of the track 15km after Castro del Rio. We had already decided to break the 39k stage to Cordoba into two by going via Santa Cruz. As it turned out, this was the right decision as the Camino after 15k became overgrown and impassible it seemed. Ie between CP271...

LIVE from the Camino live from the Mozárabe

We are now on day seven of our pilgrimage from Granada to Santiago. Fantastic weather so far. The route as shown on Peter Bobbin's (the walking pilgrim) maps is accurate. Using a combination of Peter Bobbin's maps, Allison Raju's guide booklet and the recent yellow arrow markings (thank you!) We...

    New waymarking on Mozárabe

The route as shown on Peter Bobbin's (the walking pilgrim) maps is accurate. Using combination of Peter Bobbin's maps, Allison Raju's guide booklet and the recent yellow arrow markings (thank you!) We have had little difficulty in finding the route from Granada to Cordoba. The re-routing of the...

H Hi, we will be in Merida around 7_9 April and Caceres around 15-18 April. Maybe we will all meet up somewhere enroute! Look out for two tired-looking Aussies who have started in Granada. Cheers and buen camino

Australia and New Zealand Class of 2014

Hi, we did the Frances route in early spring 2011, aged 57 & 60. The weather was perfect : mostly cool, with a few rainy days for variety. Watching the countryside come to life out of its winter torpor was wonderful indeed. In 2014 we intend to walk from Granada to Santiago, beginning in...
