    Flasher In Mazarife

Hola, I have just arrived in Santiago and heard from several female pilgrims that they each had a man expose himself to them as they left Mazarife in the morning. One woman saw him in the doorway of a house, the other two saw him in a car or a van (not sure which). Presumably this is the...

LIVE from the Camino Brad's Camino

Made it to Pamplona... just wanted to post a note that there is a detour on the Camino before you get to Pamplona. After Zabaldica the route to Trinadad de Arre is blocked due to a landslide and you are routed around Arre toward Pamplona along a concrete, riverside park path. Very long stretch...

LIVE from the Camino Brad's Camino

Hello All, My trip is underway and I´m currently at in Roncesvalles, staying at the youth hostel. I got into SJPdP on Thursday the 11th, checked in with the wonderful pilgrim´s office staff, and had one of the best meals of my life at Hotel Ramuntcho right there in the old...

    On My Way to SJPdP

Hello all, Tomorrow I plan on arriving in SJPdP and hopefully, if all goes as planned, set off on Friday the 12th. I hope to meet some of you along the way... Brad Chatellier :)

    Help in SJPdP

I suppose if I went back out I would be taking my camera, but I also have some other things that might appeal like an iPod, a nice jacket (that I won't be wearing if it's nice and warm), a good pair of hiking boots... come to think of it my pack is pretty nice too. Or do I have it all wrong...

    Help in SJPdP

Thanks for the replies... Mabel I'll be looking for you along the way :) Sil, I'm assuming that when you lay down your sleeping bag to claim your spot and go out to explore towns you take all of the rest of your gear with you... yes/no?

    Help in SJPdP

Hello All, If all goes as planned I should be in SJPdP by next Thursday (May 11th). Admittedly I'm a little nervous. I'll be catching a cab from Biarritz to Bayonne, the train to SJPdP, and... then what? Once I get off the train I have absolutely NO idea of where to go or what to do. I...

    Electricity In Albergues?

I have narrowed almost all my gear down to battery power but have one item that requires charging, perhaps every other day. How easy/difficult/impossible is it to find a place to plug in? Thanks :)

    The Coolest Secret Item

Thanks Leslie, as always. I'm very happy to report that I had almost all of those items covered already... now I'm feeling very confident. My extra items include: * An iPod (with Spanish language instruction in addition to music) * Sleeping pills * Emergen-C * Eagle Creek zippered...

    The Coolest Secret Item

Okay, I've got all my gear together... or at least I think I do. Veterans of the Camino, I ask you this question... what is the secret coolest item to have with you... the one that no newbie would ever think to bring... I've already got a section of thread and safety pins for stringing up a...

    Blister Needles?

So I've heard all this talk of the needle and thread approach. Any suggestions on size of needle, type of thread...? Thanks, Brad Chatellier

Digital camera without a view finder

I think the bottom line to your question Dawn is it can't hurt to have both options... unless you really prefer the Nikon, in which case here are a few more points in favor of the viewfinder-less option... Viewfinders on point and shoot digitals don't show you the full coverage area so they...

Digital camera without a view finder

No viewfinder isn't necessarily a problem. Since the viewfinders on point and shoot digicams are usually quite poor I've always used the LCD for framing. The downsides to this are the extra drain on batteries and some LCDs are harder to see in bright sunlight conditions. I'm a Canon shooter...

    travelling from Canada

Greetings Dawn. I'm from Northern California and will be hiking the Camino from May 13-June 19. Hope to see you along the way :)

    Footwear Question

How about for late spring, when I'm going? I'm planning for a total mix of hot and cold, dry and rain. In rain it would seem that either leather or Gore Tex will keep your feet dry. In heat, feet sweat in either material, but hopefully the mesh of these boots will keep them cooler than full...
