No to Gortex ! Almost ended my first Camino, and not from rain but from sweat ! Horrible blisters. Have switched to breathable Hokas and 4 Camino’s-no blisters
Exactly the same experience for us and I totally agree. He is now a non goretex devotee!
I did wear injinji toe socks under lightfoot brand socks and once the water squished out, I never felt that my feet were wet.

I was a hospitalero there last year and will be there again in March 2024. Believe there are always volunteers there. But don’t serve dinner, just breakfast 🥖🥚🍊 And no fireplace
The albergue has been updated since 2011 … very nice place … and does supply sheets, pillowcases and towels. If you’re passing by in the first two weeks of March, stop and say Hi ! Will be hospitalero there for my second time !
Im heading back to Spain for my 3rd year of volunteering (5 different albergues and 3 this time) and i still speak virtually no spanish. Smiles, miming and google translate get me thru. Love my time as a hospitalero
No, not all people who stay with us are financially needy. Of course some are on limited means, but most are just normal people with an average budget who were looking to have a more simple pilgrimage.
