Just wondering, did anyone ever walk for a deceased pet/animal?

We have walked for our beloved, deceased four-legged child, also a perragrina who did the Camino primitivo with us in 2017. It was a beautiful time to mourn, recall the time and memories she gave us, and accept that she needed to cross that bridge on a new journey. Every time I reach obradoiro...

Dangerous dog between Triacastela and Sarria (2019)

Hi all– thought I'd share some of this info I've found. This pertains more to the Francés – but there's a great sign outside of Arzúa detailing what you should do if you encounter a road animal ( at least in Galicia). First, I am so sorry that this happened and hope you get better soon. I've...

    Photographing the Camino

Hi Max, I've done the Camino Francés 5x and as an artist, I find that there's material and inspiring moments each and every time. I myself approach art through research and on the Francés I am interested in the less traveled path; alternate routes like Dragonte, Pradela, rio ucieza routes, etc...

    Norwegian Trekking cabins

Skipping some sections here and there via the Dovrebanen might just be the thing to do so that you make it to Trondheim. I made all the accommodation plan several months before the trip. June was not busy, so I suspect you won’t have much trouble in May— but I recommend booking in advance...

    Norwegian Trekking cabins

I agree. Lillehammer to Hjerkinn is what I would do in your situation. Are you walking it in March or May? You mention both in your post. I did it in June and it was still a bit cold-- remnants of snow remained in the highlands. I used the website to plan and made my own plan via google maps of...

    Norwegian Trekking cabins

Not many DNT cabins along the gudbrandsalen at all. We did a combination of hammock camping, stabburs, camping huts and hotels, once in a while. While Norway is certainly more expensive than Spain, its not THAT bad...We would try to vary it-- camp sometimes and splurge others. We stayed at a...

Share your favorite alternate routes on the Francés

These are some great suggestions! Will be researching them for next year-- thank you all!

Share your favorite alternate routes on the Francés

Hello Pilgrims! I'm doing some research on Camino Francés alternative paths and hoping you could share some of your favorites and why. I teach a university program over the summers and have been taking my students on three of them along our 500 mile program; Via Trajana, Pradela and Samos. They...

I think I’m ready, but I have a couple of questions...

I second or third the suggestion of Injinji toes sock liners to prevent blister. IN combination with a lite or midweight wool sock works great for me. I've walked 5 Caminos and rarely get any blisters-- if I do its usually because i didn't break in my shoes enough. Some will need vaseline...
