Very happy with my new pacer poles.

So glad you found pacer poles. I found out about them in 2012 before my first Camino and they saved my bacon! I couldn’t use regular polls either because of the thumb issue. Trigger thumb is no joke! They were also a huge help with my knees. In my 2016 Camino I was walking down towards Alcebo...

    Towel - Help!

If you can find a light weight linen fabric it works wonderfully. It absorbs doesn’t stick and dries quickly on the line after your shower. Mine is 45 x 36 and I love it.

    What's Your Go-To CF Shoe?

I wore Merrill Moab ventilator boots the first time and a Hoka trail shoes the second. Trained in both. Loved both.

Pacerpoles for people with diminished core/upper-body strength?

I had the same problem with standard walking poles. I always had a blister. I have used pacer polls for the last eight years and love them. They really do help and no blisters.I am old, and overweight, and have little upper body strength. I will not go walking without my pacer poles!

    A Painters Camino

As someone who has walked the Camino twice, and is an artist, I like your plan of walking first and then going back to paint.

    Vaseline on feet?

Are used body glide on my feet. It’s made for runners feet and it’s not as greasy as Vaseline and it worked really well. I think that might be a name brand but there are all sorts of brands of this type of application.

    Plantar Fasciitis

Hokas were the only shoes I could wear for about a year. Unfortunately my planters fasciitis came right before my second Camino in 2016. I hobbled all the way across Spain and then again for a few months and then it went away. I can’t tell you what I did to make it go away but I had it for over...

    Avoiding the breakfast trap?

I stopped at Food stores whenever I could and I would plan for the next days breakfast and carried in my pack. Maybe some nuts and a yogurt or banana and nuts. And then I would stop at the first café to get the second breakfast. I’m not a coffee drinker, so there was no way I was paying for a...

    5-10km/day pilgrims

I would start in Pamplona, get Pacer Poles, use a pack service, and take transportation when needed. Get some of the tape to support your knees on the downhill. Be careful of taking Spanish ibuprofen as it’s stronger and can be hard on the liver. I found liniments and topical pain relievers...

Thefts at municipal albergue of Melide

Sorry about the boundary cross. It feels horrible no matter what you lose. I took apart a full fridge twice one morning looking for my breakfast. I had a hard time believing someone would be that big of a pisser.

Equipment for Chubby Girls (perhaps an ongoing guide)

In 2012 I found two pair of REI capris on the sale rack that must have been returned from an online purchase. As you can see by my profile photo I have some hips. They worked for two Caminos so far and still going. Lightweight, stretchy , fast drying, pockets, and adjustable waist. The pants...

    Ibuprofen - Cautionary Tale

I didn't realize how strong they were in Spain. I came home with liver totally messed up and still is 2 years later. Glad you posted the cautionary tale and everyone only take pain meds if absolutely necessary.

    Maybe its me

If I am reading between the lines correctly it seems this is a safety issue. Seems like you are feeling unsafe. See if you can walk offstage and find a walking buddy. I hope you have worked it out and are enjoying your walk.

    Favorite Camino animal picture

I saw them in 2012 going backwards also. He must live on the path.
