Hi Rita - I am with you I enjoy the internal quiet and solitude of the walk. I am quite friendly & interested in other Pilgrims' stories but it's also nice just trudging along with my own thoughts not needing to explain my reasons for the walk. However, there is always plenty of opportunities...

The answer is, "How long is a piece of string, how fit you are & how much time you can devote to the walk? If you're travelling alone you might be more indulgent than in a group which might have deadlines to meet?
First decide how fit you actually are & how far you are capable of walking each...
Hi Vagabonders,
No doubt you'll get plenty of advice on which route to take but I really enjoyed Camino Frances & in May next year I'm taking on the North. I recently finished a shortened Camino Portuguese starting in Porto & had no trouble arranging bag transfers all the way ( I'm of a similar...
Hi Lucy3095,
I'm an Aussie based mostly in Berlin and even though I'd spent close to 12 months back in Sydney in 2020-21, I applied for travel permission & surprisingly received approval by email in under 4 days!
I've just returned to Berlin after completing the Camino Portuguese from Porto. I...
Sure I agree 100% I wasn't meaning it was expensive - it's totally nothing when you consider what gets outlaid when you're on the Camino for 30 days. I meant the staff in the office were careful that you paid to (barely?) cover the costs of the pretty certificate you receive and its protective...
I've been on 2 Caminos never had 2 stamps per day from Sarria or anywhere else & it didn't prevent me getting the Credencial certificate in SDC from the official office - they were mainly interested in collecting the 5 euros.
Yesterday in Porto I did a test walk from my hotel in the centre to try and confirm the route out of the city. The only yellow arrow I saw was up high on the Peregrino Hostel. The fact that all the streets have yellow lines painted on the roads near the curb to indicate No Parking or other such...
Hello from Porto - I am leaving tomorrow on the Central Route to Santiago. In 2019 used Correos from Roncevalles to Santiago and it was flawless. I provided them with a list of my daily stopovers and it worked flawlessly other than for one location where they couldn't get access to an apartment...
Hi Debi - I have a similar profile (age & Camino experience) and plan as you. So I wish you an enjoyable walk. I hope to meet up with you along the road from Lisbon. Best, Chris (ex-Sydney now Berlin).
Just a clarification - are you intending to try to stay longer in Europe or are you travelling further (e.g. another country, continent or back to Oz?). If the latter, you'd naturally depart on your Oz passport?
Hi,
In 2019 I arranged it online via the Spanish Post Office in English.
You're brave soldiering on with a dodgy knee. Hope it goes well for you.
Chris
I regret not allowing for more time in the major cities like Leon & Pamplona etc but as it was my first Camino I was always looking ahead. I also decided to not push onto Finisterre so now my 30 day walk seems incomplete somehow. However, as I'm planning another walk this Euro Autumn I'll...
