I did the the Camino Ingles in '21 and the Inca Trail in '22. There is NOTHING on any of the Caminos that even comes close to the climb to Dead Woman's Pass!! There are some hills of course and a steep section after leaving Pontedeume and one going into Betanzos. There is no issue on the Ingles...
I used the Wise Pilgrim app when I did the Norte earlier this year. I worked great and I highly recommend it. IMHO apps are better as they are more easily updated than paper guidebooks.
If you want a route that is less busy you might consider the Camino Ingles. It is 5 days from Ferrol to Santiago. It is another 4 days or so from Santiago to Finisterre/Muxia AND it is a beautiful walk. Or you could do part of the Portuguese. You don't need to use a travel company--you can do...
I highly recommend La Casona del Nene in Arzua and Pension Residencial Platas in O Pedrouzo. I also like Hotel Universal in Santiago--very well priced and close to the Cathedral. I am about your age and was very comfortable there. Also, there are plenty of options in Sarria.
Yes there is. The one for Finisterre, the Fisterrana, is available at the tourist office. You can get another one at the tourist office in Muxia, the Muxiana.

There are some great day trips from Santiago offered by various tour companies that take you to Finisterre, Muxia and a couple of other places of interest. Their offices are along whatever street that is that runs by the post office (sorry don't recall the name of the street??) toward the Plaza...
This is true! When I did the CP I got some gel inserts which really helped cushion my feet and I didn't have issues. And wear whatever shoe works best for you. BC
Hi JustJack:
Most places have WiFi and most of the time it works well. As mentioned in the previous reply it can sometimes be quite slow or just doesn't work. I always like to get a SIM card just in case of emergency, need directions or have to make a phone call and can't find WiFi. I think the...
If you want to coordinate your arrival in MAD with the train, I have found that many flights from the US arrive early in the morning. Therefore there is plenty of time to hop on the metro to Atocha can catch a late morning/early afternoon train to your destination.
