    Transports Claudine

I'm not sure about getting taxis at that time of year, but generally I had a very easy time hitchhiking along the route. Many of the pilgrims I walked with had also hitchhiked at one point, with no problems. As there isn't much between towns, locals driving along the route are usually passing...

Walking poles in Le Puy? -- last minute question

I agree with Falcon's suggestion. I wouldn't bother trying to run around Paris to find something with only an hour to spare... The metro system is a bit of a maze and the stores are bigger. Le Puy will have more camino/pilgrim specific shops :) Buen Camino!

Le Puy guide for new pilgrims

I'm glad the website is helpful during her preparations. Thank you for reaching out to tell me! Getting these notes makes me really crave the Camino again :) Buen Camino, and good luck!

    CDG airport to Le Puy

I'd stick to an airport meetup, just to see how you're all feeling after the flight. Someone may need to crash before heading out. If I learned anything on my Camino, it's that planning too far in advance will bite you in the butt!

    Aire sur L'Adour to SJPDP

I highly suggest staying at Hotel de la Paix in Aire sur L'Adour! I was stuck there for 10 days with foot troubles and they were exceptionally generous. The beds are comfy, the enormous bathroom/shower is a real luxury. And if I remember right, it's the same price as a regular gîte :)

Your experiences of the Chemin du Puy - tell me about them and help me with my dissertation!

Done! Happy to help :) Good luck with your dissertation! You chose a really incredible topic. I'm sure you'll get a lot of strong opinions coming out of those questions.

    LePuy help, please!

I agree, Margaret! Unfortunately, the website costs a decent bundle to publish every year and I'm not quite a millionaire yet. The ads on my site are small banners and go a long way. But in the spirit of helping a fellow pilgrim, you can always download the adblocker extension for your browser...

    Passport

Great way to put it! Most hikers along Le Puy are French vacationers. I got some weird culture shock when we hit St. Jean and suddenly everyone was Irish and North American :p

    Passport

Hey Mac! I walked Le Puy exactly one year ago today :) It's definitely doable without any French, but I would suggest learning a couple basics before you head out. You'll want to get the Miam Miam Dodo guide book, which is in French but uses really easy symbols to categorize accommodations and...

    LePuy help, please!

Hey Chris, You can take the train straight from Paris to Le Puy en Velay, or you can combine your train with a short bus ride to make it cheaper. I took a Ouibus bus from Paris to Lyon for €29 (book in advance for fares down to €15), then a SNCF train to Le Puy for €18.60. A direct train would...

I am really doing this AGAIN...

That makes me so happy! Glad I could help you find your way there :) Step number one complete! Thanks for checking it out :) There are two baggage/human shuttle services along the route. You can find more information about them on my transportation page. Be sure to book them the day before...

I am really doing this AGAIN...

-I took the train from Paris to Le Puy with one change. It was very simple and cheap! I explain the process on my Le Puy guide website -Definitely take the extra day to check out Le Puy! I wish I had, it's a beautiful city and I ended up just rushing out without seeing any of the magnificent...

    Gite questions on LePuy route

Hey Chris, Duolingo is a good way to start for sure, but if you get stuck and don't want to use the phone to call ahead, feel free to use my email template. I used it on my trip and always received responses within a few hours confirming my reservation. Gite emails are listen in Miam Miam :)

    Gite questions on LePuy route

First of all, June will be such a lovely time to walk! I walked alone, but never stayed in a single room. Most gîtes have rooms with more than one bed, most likely 4-8 beds in each (bunk-beds usually, so you'll have at LEAST 2). Finding a hostel or hotel with just one room per bed would be a...
