I walked the Frances from SJPdP in sept/Oct 2018 and can highly recommend to detour in Ponferada and follow the Camino Invierno (Winter Route) to Santiago. There is a thread about the Invierno in this forum. A beautiful and very solitary walk, whereas that stretch is hugely crowded on the CF...
Hi Austrian.
My best guess is that all the places I stayed will be open all year, being hostals and hotels. But exactly were you end up depends on your daily distances. I used a combination of booking.com, the apps mentioned in my original post, the PDF by @peregrina2000 and in one case just a...
Hi Kiernan
Accommodation wasn't really expensive .. Most places I paid €20, sometimes a little less and one time that even included breakfast. I never paid more than €30. At the same time all other prices (food, coffee) are local prices, i.e. not inflated pilgrim prices. So it would really be a...
Well, it started working again (gps location) so I just didn't close the app for the remainder of the walk. But when I turn on the app now again after closing it a few days ago, no GPS signal on map? Guess it's a bug that can be fixed. Otherwise a wonderful app!!
Dear peregrina2000
I just finished the Invierno and what a wonderful experience that was!! Thank you for the guide which was extremely useful. I also highly recommend the app by wise pilgrim/wisely with offline map and GPS, very helpful although the invierno is indeed well marked. I'm baffled...
This is a reflection of my current camino, still ongoing on the way to Muxia. Starting in SJPdP in mid September, it has been a wonderful experience, meeting so many great people along the way. As I passed Astorga, the number of people started to increase rather much. No problem there as every...
I'm currently on the camino Invierno, using your app with offline map. I really enjoyed it but today it doesn't track my position on the map (which it did yesterday). Strange since location is on for the app and works for all other apps (incl the wise pilgrim app, Google maps etc). Any ideas how...
Amazing, that is exactly what I was looking for. What a resource. I certainly hope I'll be able to do the invierno this year.
Btw, for those relying on maps on their phones (nice to have your location on the route as you go) there are a few apps , e.g. Invierno by Wise Pilgrim on app store. Not...
Hi experienced Invierno walkers
Thanks for your posts and pictures! :-) I'm planning my second camino this September, finally a full trip from SJPdP to Fisterra (my first was Astorga to Fisterra) and am super excited to get going again. I'm very inspired from this forum to consider the Invierto...
Happy for you that your dream is being realized now, you are looking forward to an amazing experience.
I’ll be two days ahead of you but maybe we meet on the trail. Buen camino.
Best, chris
Bugger :-/. Rest, rest, rest until departure. And ice, ibuprofen and more rest. A slow pace, not too long days and many pauses. If you take it easy it will significanly increase your chance of recovery. There is no miracle fix!! Take it easy and you’ll be fine.
I hope you’ll recover before your...
Hi amandam
Ibuprofen does not act from the stomach side but is adsorbed and inhibits the COX enzymes (cyclooxynenase) of which there are two variants. One of the COX is involved in inflammation and ibuprofen hence dampens inflammation. But COX is also involved in platelet activation and...
Hi Peter, Adrianna and Co
I'll arrive SJPdP 15 September (reservation at Beilari) for my second Camino .. very excited to get going, plan to walk all the way to Fisterra like my previous camino. The Santiago-to-Fisterra walk can be highly recommended!!
See you on the trail.
Best,
Chris
