    Accommodation Santander

Hospedaje Magallanes can be recommended indeed. Clean, comfortable, affordable and easy to find. There is a great fruit shop next door also.

Learning Spanish for the Camino: Recommendations for a Spanish Teacher

I had the very same idea at the beginning of the pandemic and use this time to learn Spanish. I used Magdalena Salazar from Guatemala (magdalenasalazar1717@gmail.com). Lessons were via zoom, with homework each week. I found her really good for a basic understanding of the language, correct...

    Nice stages post santander

I'm just back from one week on the Norte. Santillana del Mar to Comillas is a really lovely walk. Both interesting towns with great transport links both from and to Santander. Autobus Cantabrica provide a great service on this route.

Porto airport to Barcelos -- taxi? other?

Hi, In 2018, I flew to Porto and got the train to Barcelos. My flight was slightly delayed, but luckily I made the last train, I changed in Nine, there was a delay here of about 20 minutes. I think the train was heading for Braga. It was dark when I reached Barcelos, the train station is on...

    Reviews of Four Camino-Related Books

I'm Off Then: Losing and Finding Myself on the Camino de Santiago (German: Ich bin dann mal weg) is a book by German writer Hape Kerkeling. The best book I have read about the Camino de Santiago. Engaging and funny, also informative. I plan to bring it with me on Camino Frances to read again...

LIVE from the Camino Who's on del Norte? Oct 2021

I am just home from 8 days on Camino Del Norte, Santander to Gijon. Day 1, walking to Santillana, I met nobody at all. After that, however I met about a dozen or so over the various stretches. It was such a great experience, weather , scenery, food and wine and of course the people along the way.

    Baggage transfer

I am starting from Santander on September 30th, have been trying for a few days to arrange luggage transfer with Correos, but the website won't allow me to pay. It keeps looking for a valid ID, even though I have inserted my Passport number. Has anybody else had problems?

Sep 23rd, Starting in Irun. Anyone else?

I start from Santander on Thursday 30th September. This is my 3rd time on the Norte. I had hoped to take a train to Mogro, and walk from there. However, it looks like there is a train strike in Spain that day, so may need to have alternative arrangements. I have booked a bed in Santillana...

    Camino Portugues Central

In 2019 I, like you, started in Barcelos. I stayed in Barcelos Way Guest house. My train from Porto was delayed, it was late and very dark when I arrived. The owner of the Guesthouse sent a taxi to pick me up at the train station and stayed in constant communication until I safely inside...

LIVE from the Camino Accommodation experience, first 8 nights

Hi, I stayed in Albergue Pozueta, pre-covid. Lovely place, great host, great location, very quiet and comfortable, also really nice food and plenty of it! I seem to remember feeling I would never reach it, but there were some encouraging signs and notices on the way to the albergue, which...

    Spanish language question

Hi, In preparation for my 5th Camino, I took Spanish lessons via Zoom for one hour per week with Magdalena. In April 2021 I was a complete beginner, now I can hold a decent conversation in Spanish and look forward to September when, hopefully, I begin the Camino del Norte. [Edited to correct...
