    I’ve worn Brooks Dyad11 for the Camino. They are short lived but suit me perfectly. I get about 400 miles out of them, then use them back home as biking shoes (I don’t do clips). Overall, a costly approach but suits me for comfort and lightness.

    I started having electrolyte issues at about 70 YO. After a trip to the ER for dizziness and rapid pulse after a jog, I started using Nuun tablets in a bottle of water. They work fine and are easy to carry; I buy the box of 8 ten-count tubes online. Not the most flavorful, but works.

    I have three pair of REI "cargo" pants with zip-offs that I rotate for hiking. They have abundant pockets and are quick-dry. I usually take two pair on Camino. Not a favorite of the fashion police, but work for me. Never had the irritation issue.

    Very well said. I planned a lifetime of Caminos during COVID and walked two of them in 2022 and 2023. Didn’t stick to my plan either time. No idea right now where 2024 will lead, but it will be on a Camino.

    A hostal across the river on the left, can’t remember and no record of the name. It was basic and in March. I was the only one there I think.

    Indeed! Very charming little village, stayed there last March but you were apparently not open or I could not find it. Stayed in a bland, but nice place across from the bodegas.

    The inn across from the San Martin church in Fromista and the Monastery San Zoilo outside Carrion were two of my favorites. I walked up to San Zoilo without a reservation and got the pilgrim rate. Absolutely wonderful place.
